Charlotte Observer

My dd graduated last year and do not have a dog in the fight, But wanted to comment on the Charlotte Observer article on Spring Sports. I always like to see the feature story and who the paper says are Players to watch. This year was not good in my opinion. I was hoping to see an article on Butler trying to 4 peat or Hickory Grove trying to 5 peat. I do not want to disrespect any of the people mentioned on the section but Cliff come out and see a game. Try a little harder on setting the tone of the new season. Constance Orr was the SW4A player of the year. There is a lot of knowledge on this forum that I wish Cliff would of asked for ideas. I wish everyone great success this year.

Looked like softball was after thought. I thinke he only had one source on his players to watch.

 

Totally Agree!

I couldn't agree more. The Charlotte Observer totally dropped the ball on this one. It almost appears that they totally forgot that there are high schools with some awesome talent on the North side of Charlotte. Hardly a mention of any of the very talented girls from North Meck, South Iredell, Northwestern Cabarrus County, as well as Rowan and Gaston.

Not to take anything away from the girls that were mentioned, but how about spreading the notoriety around to ALL of the areas that subscribe to the Observer.

Maybe they should change their name to South Charlotte Selfserver.

Read the South Charlotte Sports Report article on Softball, much better. Info on teams they cover, personable and knowledgable.

Charlotte Observer was just trying to fill the space.

Not much better for softball but I think the two papers are from the same company....

 

Thanks for the kind words about my paper. I am the first to say I will make mistakes and leave off good players, but I felt good about the South Charlotte players we mentioned.

I am a one man show, but I always try to check in with different coaches and observers every time I form a list of the top players.

I really enjoy softball in spite of never having a child to play the game. Here is my season preview story for those that are interested
