It was a good game, a bit frustrating with a few errors that killed us but Hannah pitched GREAT! Congrats on the win. I hate keeping stats but I like to hear them so maybe one of our coaches will post them?

 

First, let me say, both teams played very well today. EB bats were not as strong today as they have been the last two games but they had some pretty good defense after a slow start.

Next, the winning pitcher was sophomore #20 Dakota Icard with junior Holly Hudson #14 coming in to close the game, for the record.

As for the call on the out of order batting, I don't see how that was a NC rally when it was the third out and no one was on base. That was just smart coaching for EB to wait and bring it to attention when it would be beneficial.

Now for the close call at homeplate. The catcher never "knocked down" the runner. The runner slid into home and NC's catcher tagged at the shoulder leaving plenty of room for the runner to slide under the tag. It was close and I didn't have a great view but I had a good enough view to know that she was sliding way before the catcher made contact so there was no way that the catcher knocked her down.

EB rallied in the bottom of the 7th with Kayla Shelton getting on base, followed by Kendal Benge and Holly Hudson knocking in the winning run. Defense started slow in the 1st inning allowing the first 3 batters to load the bases. Then a double play by ss Taylor Burkhalter helped the Lady Cavs get out of the inning and the defense never let up after that.

All in all it was a great ballgame to watch. Both teams played well and the weather was perfect!

The winning pitcher for EB was soph. Dakota Icard followed by jr. Holly Hudson. Both teams played good defense. That being said, I am impressed with the efforts of the Lady Cavs. Although they were down 1-0 from the first inning, they never dropped their heads or played as though they were defeated. With two outs in the bottom of the 7th, they seized the opportunity, battled and came back to win 2-1. Great game from NC. EB will face off with Hibriten on Friday.

This was a good game and a beautiful day to be outside!

Athens Drive has several girls (sorry, I only know Blaire who batted 3rd - I think that is how you spell her name) that consistently hit the ball hard. Several good defensive plays by both teams.

Congrats again to EB on a well played game. Sorry for getting the names wrong, I did edit them but was a bit too late. Again, great coaching decision by EB in the 7th. Our coaches have a lot to learn.

South put the bat on the ball, just went right at somebody. Maybe we can get West one of these days, just not this year. Good game though, was closer than the score might indicate.
