Pitcher goes to 179 last night

    A pitcher for Cape Fear Christian School was allowed to start, and complete a game last night in Wilson by throwing 179 pitches in 50 degree weather. UNBELIEVABLE!!!

    Thats a shame. I dont know of any weather a kid should throw 179 pitchers....thats 2 games in one:argue:

    Pitcher at Laurens HS in SC threw 170+ in a playoff game last year, after throwing approximately 130 3 or 4 days earlier.

    Sounds like a coach that puts the pursuit of a win ahead of the health of his pitcher. I bet there are some Cape Fear Christian School parents (namely the pitcher's parents) having some unchristian thoughts about their son's coach today.

    If that was my son I might shoot the coach. No excuse for that.

    that coach is a flipping idiot, bottom line, plain and simple. It takes a complete moron to do something like that. And if jis parents didnt have brains enough to yank him out, they're idiots as well.

    Though I believe that pitch counts have led to fewer and fewer pitchers being able to have the endurance to throw more than five or six innings (at the pro level) much less threaten going for a complete game, 179 is a "Walter Johnson" type pitch count!
