Yep..... Central Cabarrus beat W Charlotte 55-0.... And the coach caught heck. But he had in his #3 pitcher in at the end of the game.

I've seen and I'm sure others on here also have seen tee ball games 20+ to 2or3 and some 10u and 12u games that were bad also. And I have not seen any of those game run up on purpose. 1 team just did not have the talent level. Sometime that's the way it goes........

A lot of posters who criticize don't realize how bad these teams are. There are two travel 10 and under teams that play at a field near me that might run rule some of the teams in our conference.

None of the have nots have pitching and catching and they occasionally run into bouts of wildness which can lead to scores getting out of hand.

We had one team in our conference down 15-0 nobody out and bases loaded and just went to the umpire and said we would take the field and let them hit. Their pitcher had thrown 28 straight balls.

I won't tell players to swing at bad pitches, don't like turning them around unless they practice it, but we will leave early if nothing else works.

Most of our games with this level team wind up in the 15-25 run range.

This is a dangerous sport to play (especially at the corners) with very little training and I think I speak for most coaches in this situation that we hope no one on these teams gets hurt. Most of the weaker teams don't take great care of their fields which adds to the danger.

It is an absolute joke to run up the score on a sorry team. What does it actually accomplish? Is it making your team better in any way? After emptying the bench, I always talk to the opposing teams coach to ask them what the want, but when it gets to a certain point, we are leaving early. Never swing at bad pitches or hit from the opposite side, but we will bunt if we need to. I would like to know how it's making a "mockery" of the game to show mercy on a team.

    no mockery

UNC Tarheels plays UNC Ashville in basketball almost every year because Roy Williams is from Asheville and does it to help the school $$$ money wise. Asheville comes to Chapel Hill and takes a butt kickin like the last 3 yrs and goes home with a BIG FAT pay check. Mockery? App State beat Michigan for a big fat pay check. Duke played Maryland this year and the Terps got beat by 41 points. Did anyone here what Coach Gary Williams said after the game. (We got killed, but we will be better and play them better next time) then played Duke twice more and had chances to beat them. Mockery? USA Baseball beat Venezuela in 15-6 and now Venezuela is on the way to LA for the final 4 championship series. Mockery? Yes these are all Pros and College teams. I remember a HS basketball team winning 100 - 0 this year. The team that lost had no reason or business to even be on the court with the college prep type team and that was the mockery. I do think the coach in this case may have ran the score up. But still none the less you get beat 40-0 or 100-0. That come with the territory. About 2 yrs ago at the UNC-Duke game with 16 sec to go Hansborough gets fouled missed the free throw and got fouled by G Henderson and Henderson bloodied his nose. Well Billy Packer asked why was Tyler H. still in the game and UNC leading by 12 with 16 sec left. 4 3 pointers and your back in the game. If Billy the fool had looked at the scorer table he would have seen the sub waiting to check in. Billy did not think to ask the ???.. Why was Henderson also still in the game? That was the mockery... The mockery comes from all the OUTSIDE COMMENTS that try to over-analyze all the things that come and go with these games. Play the games if you win/loose by 1 or 100. Ask yourself why are you here playing this game? Should I have put my players in the situation? If I have a 10U softball team that I know is NOT a A team and can bearly even compete with B teams. Do I want them to continually get pounded by 20 or 30+ every week? Is this a mockery? Learn your lessons and move on.......

Thanks I learned two lessons. 1)I learned from this post is that people should refrain from comparing Division I athletes and college games to high school games. 2) when people do make these comparisons, it's both funny and sad. (and now I'll move on)

Your Quote...Thanks I learned two lessons. 1)I learned from this post is that people should refrain from comparing Division I athletes and college games to high school games. 2) when people do make these comparisons, it's both funny and sad. (and now I'll move on)

I think you miss the point... I said in my statement 2 things.... 1) Yes these are all Pros and College teams. 2)I remember a HS basketball team winning 100 - 0 this year. The team that lost had no reason or business to even be on the court with the college prep type team and that was the mockery. I do think the coach in this case may have ran the score up.

Yes... maybe you should move on. Maybe the next time your son or daughter plays a team and gets pounded by 20 or more and then you have to explain to them what just happened.... Did they run up the score or did your team just give you a butt kickin and get lesson an how to play the game.

Vince Lombartie told his players something very simple after a game.... "Guys, this a football and what do you do with a football" PROS or HS it's still played the same way.

I've told my kids that there will days when nothing you do, will go right and the other team does everything perfect and you get stomped on the field. There was a 10U NSA girls a few years back that came to tournaments and were always loosing and we hated to even play them not because we "knew" it would be a win for us, but those girls just did not have the talent level to compete on an A team level. One of the girls on our team said "Why doesn't that team get some good players, instead loosing so bad all the time?" AND that is a legidiment question from a honest 10 year old.....

I talked with a father last week that had a girl playing in Concord this past 3-7-09 AAU and they scored 3 runs all weekend and gave up 55. They were 0-4. He said that his team just could not compete with those teams. Why? Too young? Too in-experience?
