Lake Norman 7 South Rowan 1
Lake norman moves to 4-1 (1-0) after a great pitching performance from Nick Lomascolo(2009 Catawba Signee) He threw 6 complete innnings walking 1 and 15 k's while giving up 2 hits (a bunt and infield single).
Lomo was relieved by Josh Hennesse(2009) for 2/3 innings giving up a hit and 2 k's before turning it over to Joe Gunning(2009) who faced 2 batters giving up a hit before recording the final out.

    Lake Norman had timely hits.....

Donnie Burt(2009) 1-2 with an rbi
Ross Whitley(2009 Catawba signee) 2-3 double with an rbi
Nick keith(2010) was 1-3 with an rbi

    East Rowan vs West Rowan

East Rowan beat West Rowan 4-2 tonight. Kent Basinger pitched a solid 6 innings. Cody Laws came in to close it out in the 7th. The Mustangs played very well defensively. Im not positive but im pretty sure that East Rowan has still not committed a single error so far this season. East plays Veritas Sports Academy tomorrow and Carson on Friday.

Wasn't surprised to see East Rowan is as good as advertised,,,, with their defense, they will be especially tough in games when Shive comes back to pitch. Basinger pitched well for East, and once again DJ Webb pitched well in relief for West.

Mooresvillle defeated Statesville 4-3 last night.

Mooresville started the game off slow. Brett Compton gave up 2 HR's before handing the ball over to Junior Wes Dumford. Dumford finished out the game well and Mooresville battled back and picked up their third win of the season.

Seems to me DJ Webb continues to be the most consistent pitcher for West Rowan and does not get the recognition deserved. Maybe West should consider making a starter out of him. He does not walk batters, can throw for 5-7 innings and is consistent.

He shut down Mooresville for 4 innings after they put up 4 runs on Shepherd, he did not give up any runs to East last night did he. He gets ground balls and flyouts

Just a thought for you West Rowan folks...

Webb is not an overpowering pitcher but with his solid curve and good pitch placement he has always been able to get the job done for the Falcons. I also agree Webb should be moved to be a starter based on the 0-5 record of West Rowan currently. Some change in the rotation can't hurt.

Problem with West is more hitting than pitching. The teams they have played all have very good pitching. West has only scored 13 runs in 5 games. You are not going to win a lot of games averaging 2.5 runs. If you take the 6 runs against W. Forsyth out of the equation, the average really looks pathetic (1.5). West missed their opportunity last night to defeat East at West Rowan. Next time around, depending on how the schedule falls and the how the playoff picture looks, Shive will probably throw for East on his home field where I believe he has never lost.

I agree with you travisunc. the main reason west isnt winning right now is their offense. however, i could see signs of their hitting coming around last night. the falcons have a solid 1 through 4 who made solid contact all night. they also have a good 5 through 9 backing them up. once that big 1-4 start finding gaps, i can see west having more big innings at the plate. i do think that the falcons will get the win vs north iredell also. that game could also serve as a good game to get things rolling in the right direction for west. they definitely need a confidence booster right now. now back to the east-west game... i believe that the hitting that the falcons did last night was enough to beat most teams. but east rowan has one of the best defenses in the state. if the ball isnt hit perfect its more than likely going to be an out.

    Lake Norman 11 Statesville 0 F5 innings

Lake norman came out swinging, but first Scottie Williams(2010) started on the hill throwing 44 pitches in 4 innings, talleying 4 k's and no walks before being relieved by Chris Long(2009) for an inning of work.

    Lkn Hitting:

Ross Whitley(2009 Catawba Signee) was 2-3 with 3rbi
Jordan Farrell(2009 Cvcc Signee) was 3-4 with 4 rbi
    Donnie Burt(2009)Eric Manser(2009)Tyler Lewis(2010)Kevin Gradert(2009)Nick Lomoscolo(2009 Catawaba Signee)Nick Keith(2010) all added in with a base hit.

Most Impressive................... Jack Edminston a freshman was called up yesterday to replace Senior Catcher Joe Faist because of an injury. Jack ended up going 2-3 with a double and a rbi while looking very good behind the plate!!!!!!!!!!!!:de-mote:

Lake Norman now (5-1) 2-0 in conference will travel to West Iredell Tomorrow (weather premitting) at 4:30.....
