LKN pulls out a close one.

    LKN 6 West Iredell 5

LKN came out of the gate flat footed. were down 4-1 through 6 innings. Tyler Lewis(2010) Started on the hill going 3 innings surrendering 2 hits and 2 walks. He gave up 4 unearned runs on a few errors here and there. He was relieved by Ross Whitley(2009 Catawba signee) who threw the final 4 innings surrendering 1 unearned run and 1 walk.

Sam Laws started for West Iredell he went 6 1/3 innings of work before running out of gas. He had LKN off balance all night.... They finally got to him in the top of the 7th when LKN started a rally scoring 5 runs.

LKN came through when they needed it and showed they wouldnt give up as West Iredell had to go through 3 pitchers in the top of the 7th.

    Great game!

LKN now (6-1) 3-0 in conference

@ Trinity. Not many details. Bennett Hixson pitched four innings (4-1 lead) to get his third win of the season. Coffey, Stone, Desjardins and Brandenburg pitched the last three of relief.

Ragsdale now 8-0 (3-0) on the season. Next up brings Asheboro to Jamestown on Tuesday.

    Polls

Its great to be able to give some recognition to schools. Its great for discussion and it can be a source of pride for programs , players and fans. It gets people talking and they can be fun. They dont win games , they dont decide who will win a conf championship or state title.

There is no way to be 100% accurate. Its impossible. I know that Andy calls HS coaches from all over the state "even the mountains." He talks to every baseball source he can find to give him as much information as possible. In some instances its pretty clear cut who the better teams are or are projected to be. In other cases it is very unclear after all the information comes in or does not come in. I encourage anyone that does feel they know to inform those that want to know.

I am not aware of any NB or Brevard players that play for Impact. But I could be wrong. I am not aware of any Eastern Wayne players , Greenville Rose players , etc etc that play for Impact. I think this comment was way out of line. If you have a beef why post it on here like that? Why not send Andy an email or call him with your beef?

As the season goes along and we have gotten to week 7 or 8 the polls will begin to take care of themselves and the teams with the 7-0 or 8-0 records will have that to speak for them. But regardless of where you are ranked or not ranked it will not determine one game or one championship. If you want to be ranked and it means something to you to be recognized then all you have to do is beat the teams on your schedule and compile a record worthy of being ranked.

Hickory Tornadoes at Maiden Blue Devils

    Hickory 0
    Maiden 1 10 Innings

Great pitchers duel tonight at Maiden with Tyler Barnette going 9 innings for Hickory and John Markley going 7 innings for Maiden(4-1). Justin Sizemore pitched the last three innings in relief to get the win; while Tyler Poole was the tough luck loser tonight on a wild pitch to allow the winning run to score from third base. Kurt Hammonds led the Tornadoes at the plate with three singles. Wesley Killian and Justin Sizemore had one hit apiece to pace the Blue Devils. Keep it going Big Blue.

Play Hard! Play Fast! Play with Class!

    Richmond - 2
    Pinecrest - 0

A great pitchers duel. Pinecrest threatened only once with runners at first and third with one out. We had a homer in the first and scored an unearned run in the fourth. Cary comes to town tomorrow for two.
