    EM v Butler

Pitcher's Duel over at Coach Dave Jones Park/Ed Bryant's Field of Dreams.

    B 002 000 2 5 1
    EM 000 000 0 2 4

WP Hibbard, threw almost all fast balls and when the Eagles finally caught up and started drilling the ball Butler brought in lefty McWhirter to finish it off. Little went the distance for the Eagles and deserved better, striking out 10 and giving up only 2 unearned runs. 3 errors in the 3rd put East into a 2 run hole they never could crawl out of. The Eagles are still trying to learn how to win and its one step forward and one back thus far.

The Eagles are a young and coming team. I wish them the best luck. Thanks for continuing to calling the field "ED BRYANT'S FIELD OF DREAMS"!!

It really was a very good pitching duel. I haven't seen Olen Little pitch a lot, but the times that I have, it's the best that I have seen him. He actually increased his velocity in the later innings and started to get a better feel of his curveball then, also. 4 errors by the Eagles tells the story...

However, I was equally impressed by Tommy Hibbard of Butler. To my knowledge, this is the first time this year that the Bulldog sophomore has faced a batter. No one knew how he would do...and based on allowing 2 hits, I'd say the young man threw very well. Hibbard, the JV QB, is one to watch in the future. He has a personality that is fun and unique. He is totally unaware of pressure and is not in awe of his situation. I have to share this story that illustrates his personality. You know how some people are funny without trying to be. They just say or do goofy things without knowing it is goofy.

In Butler's game against Providence, Tommy Hibbard was amazed by the talents of Tyler Zupcic. Zupcic is one of the best runners and base stealers in HS baseball. That particular game, Tyler was awesome hitting a HR and going 4-4, but was caught stealing twice. As he walked by Hibbard, the young sophomore was in shock that Zupcic was caught and said this to Tyler, "Wow....you were thrown out twice". Doh!!!!! Why would an opposing player say that? Because he is Tommy Hibbard....he meant absolutely no malice. He was just amazed that it happened. Tyler was upset with the comment, but if he knew Hibbard, he would know that the kid meant it out of respect for his talents and meant no disrespect at all. He wasn't trying to be insulting or funny...he was just being Tommy Hibbard. A kid that is a fan of the game and doesn't take himself too seriously.

    Ardrey Kell Vs Prov

Providence won 10-7 in 9 innings. Somewhat of a repeat game from teh AK Myers park game. Kell down 4-0 after 1/2 inning. Ryan Butler has come up big many times for Kell, but it was not his night as he did not make it out of the first. Ryan Stetson hit a two run homer off of Shaffer followed by a solo shot by Zico Pasut to make it a 4-3 gameafter one. Alex Baker who did a good job Tuesday came in and threw well tonight for 4 innings. Shaffer was replaced by Alex Askey who did a great job on the mound keeping Kell off balance. Kell actually took the lead 7-6 before the 6th inning. With bases loaded one out Lover relieved Baker and allowed a sac fly by Mike Dunn and got out of the inning with no further damage making it a 7-7 Lover who also threw Tuesday against Myers Park got threw the 7th and 8th, before running out of gas in the 9th. Alex Wood replaced Lover with runners on first and second no out, got a strike of Zupzic, before allowing a two strike single to Shaffer to drive in teh wining run.

For Providence Semeiuk was 2-5 and was a stud on the mound
Matt Lee was strong behind the plate, and Brett Austin threw out the go ahead run from right field.
    Shaffer had a stolen base

For Kell Ratledge had 4 hits, Stetson three and Pasut two.
Taylor Patterson Logan Ratlege were strong defensively
    Lover had a stolen base
    Pitching AK
    Butler 1/3 3 hits 4 runs 2 walks
    Baker 4 innings 3hits 3 runs 5 walks 2 K's
    Lover 3 2/3 1 hit 2 runs 3 walks 4 K's
    Wood 1 inning 1 hit 1 walk 2 k's

    Pitching Providence
    Shaffer 1 1/3 6 hits 7 runs 2 walks
    Askey 3 1/3 6 hits 0 runs 1 walk 2 k's

Myers Park vs. Providence - Here it comes !

Both teams have lineups that don't allow a pitcher to catch his breath - every single hitter is dangerous for both teams. You think you can get a break going against the bottom of the order of either of these teams? Forget about it !!

MP is looking great under new coach John Spencer. He is making all the right moves to get his hot players into the lineup and in position to produce runs.
Providence is playing loose and everybody is hitting the ball hard.

These will be great games -most likely the regular season title will be on the line in these two matchups !!

Myers Park is finally getting some respect. (Had to throw this in !! )

I agree...the Greenies get very little attention on TBR since Woody and Wilson played there. Nice to have you posting. Maybe you can recruit some more supporters.

    Weddington Vs. Independeance

Last night they got the entire game in. Don't have any book info, but Weddington won 7 - 0. WHS still has to finish that home game with Myers Park.
