Down 4-1 in the top of the 7th to a very good pitcher in Lexi Davis, Piedmont started to climb back in it. Bases loaded, 2 down, and Hayley Whitley (my adopted kid... ) clears the bases with a shot to right center. Ties up the game at 4-4. First base coach held her at 1b to make sure she didn't make the third out going to second. Then Caroline comes up and smacks the game winner to right center, one hopper of the fence to score Hayley from first. She said she didn't even think it was a strike, high and outside, but she went after it....

Taylor Flynn with the win on the mound, critical save by Casey Baucom for Piedmont. Shelby Baucom, great day at the plate and scored the tying run, 3-4 on the afternoon.

Hayley works as hard as any kid I have ever been around. They sweetest kid you will ever want to meet to boot.

C Hittin' .390 so far this season with over half of her hits going for extra bases.

Caroline, love you babe. You make me proud everyday with who you are in the classroom, as a ball player, and who you are as a person.

Congratulations girls. Glad to see y'all get some credit. Two of my favorite former Blues players (outside of Nikki). With all y'all's talent on & off the field, along with your Momma's good looks, look out here they come to save the day, Caroline & Haley are on the way!! By the way John, if you get tired of them, the Hills of North Carolina will gladly take 'em!

Not me, no way! After 19 years & no longer have a dog in the hunt, I'm hanging it up & becoming an innocent bystander. Recruiting not spoken here! Might even join Cometfan when I can. Good luck & hello to the family.

West Meck - 6
Olympic - 5

West Meck was a little shaky at first and Olympic jumped out to a 5-0 lead, but West battled back and scored 6 unanswered for the win. West Meck is now 9-0.

Jessica Batten 4 inn - 6 hits - 2 K's - 0 Earned runs
Kristin Durant 3 inn - 1 hit - 5 K's - 0 Earned runs

Concord hit well, notable hitters were Jessica Batten with 2 hits, 1 double that drove a run in, Casey Shue, 2 hits, 1 triple that would have been a HR on a normal field, also driving a run in, Caitlin Steel, 2 hits, Kristin Durant 1 hit, 1 sac, I know there were more, but going by the paper and what I remember, I'll do better next time.

Harnett Central defeated Southern Lee 10-0
Mary Katherine Pegram(WP) 7 Ks, 1 walk 5 innings
Amber Benton 3 Ks, 1 hit 2 innings relief.
HC JV won also 18-1

Grays Creek won 2-0 over Triton.

Cape fear Valley Conference has tightened up with a 4 way tie for 1st.
Harnett Central
Triton
South Johnson
Grays Creek

Friday night match up between Harnett Central and Triton is brewing up to be a good one.
