SoutherNo1, I tryed to get someone to comment on the brackets last week. Maybe, you'll have more luck.
Obviously, the one that got my attention real quickly was the possible 3rd round matchup between the NEW 6 #1 vs. the ECC #1. Going by Impact's rankings that could be Rocky Mount vs. Eastern Wayne (Impact's #1 & #2). Still, alot of games left to play in the regular-season. Eastern Wayne is pretty much a lock for 1st place in the ECC, barring a Wilson Hunt upset. C.B. Aycock is too far behind to catch up (3 games down with 4 games to play.)

    What a joke!

Would love to hear the explanation of how all 5 SW4A seeded teams wind up in the same lower portion of the bracket. How does that happen?

Dang, didn't see it Karl! Shows how observant I am. It IS interesting that the NEW6 #1 has been moved to the upper bracket this year. Could make for an interesting 3rd and 4th round. I was very impressed with Eastern Wayne in the two games I watched them. In both games the starting pitcher was Josh Frederich. He threw 4 very good innings vs. Rose in a game they lost in the bottom of the 7th, and a complete game one-hitter vs. Pinecrest. No matter who emerges from the east, they'll have a difficult time beating Ragsdale.

    Speaking of Ragsdale:

Ragsdale is staring at a 2nd round battle against the #2 team from the North Piedmont Conference (either Lake Norman or East Rowan).

    Agree!

This is crazy! It's almost like "lacing a triple to left field".

"Ragsdale staring at 2nd round matchup against Lake Norman or East Rowan" ???

... wow, clearly this would be the "game of the 2nd round"...

    nothing unusual about the brackets

If you look over the past years at brackets from all sports, you will see that the brackets and seeding priority do not reflect the current season teams' ability.

It is also frustrating to see where teams from mixed conferences (say 4A/3A) get two spots in the 4A bracket when there are only 2 4A teams in the conference.

Unless the whole playoff scenario is revamped (which is doubtful), this is the way it is

Playoffs wont be fixed until they go to a seeding systems like they do in football. I think if they truely seeded the teams like they do in football we would have a much better baseball playoff system.
