First it's a combo (2A/1A) never a good thing...
It's got two "charter" schools and two "specialty" schools and none of them field a football team while two don't have baseball. Also, they rarely have jv teams in most sports.

The other five schools in the conference will only have four conference football games and will have to scramble to be able to fill out the season. This will hurt revenues due to not having established in-conference rivalries to draw fans and will be a detriment to preparing teams for playoffs.

I guess football could play "home and home" games while baseball could go to a three of four game series format.

They must just have "kickball" people making this stuff up!

 

This will be a killer baseball conference next year. Central is the only one of the seven not traditionally good.

Thing I like for Ragsdale is much better travel times than we've had with the Randolph County schools.

This particular 3A conference should be pretty strong....
Chapel Hill (current PAC-6), Orange (defending 2A champs) and Webb will be strong in baseball, and Cardinal Gibbons is always pretty strong. This one will be interesting.

My only thoughts here are with so many combination conferences that guarantee 1/2 + 1 playoff spots that it may not take very many wins to qualify for the playoffs... Any thoughts on that?

it is a joke. The most pathetic conference in the state of NC hands down. Very sad for the competitive programs that have been put in this one. And what a tough situation for football to say the least.

Coach E... it's ridiculous! A few years ago one of the "1A" teams in the conference went into the playoffs with just 2 conference wins while a team in a 1A conference was bounced out and they had finished like fourth by a fraction and had a winning record.

First rule for making playoffs should be a winning record! If a conference has 5 teams with winning records, then they all should be considered. If they have just 2 then just 2 should go. I know it's mostly about the money but... I think it's also about the "rec balling" of high school sports. Every little "Johnny or Janie" should get to play in the playoffs!

Whats going to happen if we have a spring like the one we're having now? If half, or more, of your games are non-conference, you could end up with like a 12 game season because you know those non-cons will drop you if they have to get their conference games in.
The first thing you guys need to do is start back up a conference tournament. At least then you'll have some games to tune up with just before the playoffs.

 

Just a horrible

situation. Its basically rec ball for over half your season. And your right the games you have to bail on are your non conf games. Most of your games are going to be non conf games. Your going to get bumped and there is no way around it. And just look at the football situation. What are you going to have 3 conf football games?
