    EM v AK

Great Game over at Ed Bryant Field of Dreams/Coach Dave Jones Park. Beautiful weather, beautiful field, and a fun game to watch. AK jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first when Alex Wood cleared the bases with a double. After that, the Eagles fought back and cut it to 5-4 after 3 innings. The pitchers, Alex Baker for AK and Lou Trosch for EM, got in a groove after that and the defenses took over. Both pitchers worked out of jams several times, with a number of great plays behind them. Lover came in the last two innings and finished off the Eagles, while Olen Little (on two days rest) got EM out of a bases loaded jam in the top of the 7th. Nothing's better than watching a cleanly played hard fought game on a pristine field with no rain in the forecast.

    Myers Park 5-4 Weddington 4-3

Myers Park takes away 2 wins Friday night; both games going eight innings. Game one was the completion of a game suspended in the fifth inning by rain in March, with MP leading 4-2. Weddington tied the game in the bottom of the seventh. MP manufactured the winning run in the eighth on bloop single, a sac bunt, wp and a slow infield roller. Austin Campbell takes the win for MP in relief, getting the last 5 outs.

In the nightcap, seldom used reserve senior Miller Groome doubled in Grant Fisher for the winning run in the bottom of the eighth. Chris Overman pitched a 5 hit complete game, striking out 11. Joe Hager was 3-3 and Brian Holberton 2-3.

Coach John Spencer held the First Military Night, honoring our United States veterans. Myers Park wore camo jerseys which were auctioned after the game , with the proceeds to be donated to the USO and Wounded Warriors Association.

Costly two run error in the first inning with two outs. Only knocking out two hits does not improve your chances of being successful.
