:gunsmilie:(TOP GUNS) Just wondering what some of the leading stats would be at this point in the season ..........: IP, K's, ERA, BA, HR, Hits, 2B, RBI'S, etc............

** I probably wouldn't use names just the stats (but it is up to the indv.)

    1A -

    2A -

    3A -

    4A -

Stats can be very misleading. They should be divided out by classification. I have noticed that many of the .500 plus batters are 1A and 2A. Nothing against 1A & 2A but there is a big difference in the level of competition at 3A & 4A and it is harder to put up those kind of numbers. imo

Jackie Mahle has 8 HRs as of yesterday. 4A Wakefield HS in Raleigh.
Alex Ryan has 122 Ks. Fuquay HS.
Christie Wright is 12-1 pitching for Garner.
Brittany Shotwell has 5 saves for Roxboro Person HS.

    Fishman

These stats were posted in the News and Observer today.

NeutralBlue - Don't knock 1A and 2A teams. They beat 3A and 4A teams to!!! Just because you are 4A don't mean you can beat any underclass team. imo.

I wasn't putting down 1A & 2A teams and I agree they can sometimes beat 4A teams. I believe that any team can be beat by anybody on any given day. 2A teams beat 4A teams everyday. BUT, we are talking about STATS here. Most 1A & 2A teams can run their stats up playing in those conferences. Ask any coach if he is more impressed by a girl batting .500 plus in a 1A or 2a conference or a girl who bats .500 plus in a 4A conference. There are a few 1A/2A girls that can play at any level but there are also some that could no way put up those kind of numbers playing 4A ball. I have also seen 3A/4A girls that haven't got a hit in conference play but as soon as they play a non conference against a 2A school they suddenly go 3 for 3. I'm not putting down any classification but when you lump them all together it is like comparing apples to oranges.

    Hmm....

I don't know the exact stats, but there are 2-2A pitchers that can smoke your butt.

Kristen Murphy, 2A Ledford (155k so far this year, .045 era) and Hailey Harris, 2A up near Roxboro/Person County, pitches for Marci and the Charlotte Cobras (140k+ so far this year). There is another kid, Guss Christ down in 1A Pender county, don't even think she is playing this year due to coaching issues, but she has 68 career home runs, high school and travel ball, if I am remembering that total correctly. That was mid last summer, so don't let the classification fool you...

Betcha don't want to face them....

I also know 2 2A pitchers that put up some big numbers on strikeouts AT THE 2A LEVEL, but against 3A/4A not as impressive. Not saying all fall into this category but alot of them do. You just can't compare a 2A pitcher pitching against 2A teams to a 4A pitcher pitching against 4A teams.

    Hmm...

I would like to stand you up there and have any of the 3 of them throw you a change up. You would look like a complete goof.

There is talent in small towns. You are sterotyping kids because of their zip codes...are you, you know...>:reb:

Haha you are probably right about that first statement since I am over half a century old. I am not sterotyping anyone. I'm not saying there are not good 2A pitchers out there. I am saying that you put some of these phenomenal 2A pitchers consistently up against 4A teams and you will not see these kind of pitching stats. I would bet the farm on it because I have seen it time and time again. You must be the one smoking something if you believe that these 2A pitchers would be putting up the same stats if they were playing against 4A teams. The stats would probably still be good but I guarantee you the number of k's would be ALOT lower. Let some of these 4A pitchers pitch consistently to 2A teams and you are going to have alot of heros out there. There wouldn't be any room at the top...there would be so many with those impressive stats.
