Well said Coach! What really matters is how long the kids have been playing, how hard they've worked from a young age, and who is training them up. Of course, if you have a huge pool to pick from vs. a small pool, and they have all had the same training since early on, it's then just a numbers game. Pitching, especially, has very little to do with the size of the school, but is more based on individual talent and work ethic. Overall defensive strength and hitting may have a good bit to do with the size of the pool, but only if the kids have been trained since an early age.

    Parkdaddy for Mayor!

......my brother nailed this one on the head! All we've read is about the "good teams" chasing stats v. the less fortunate. Whats folks in TBRs take when a kid at any level, on a bottom tier team , post stats that rock?
    Would you question them too?
    ParkD, nice.....................hope all is well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There is no way you can say 100% that a 1A/2A pitcher can not beat a 3A/4A team, allow 3-4 hits and KO-10. There are pitches in 1A,2A,3A,4A that will dominate no matter the level. There are also hitters in the 1A/2A that will go 2-4 against 3A/4A pitches. I have seen players that I know play in 1A/2A teams and face 3A/4A pitchers in travel ball where the competition is much higher and SUCCEED!! There are also 1A/2A players that will not fair very well against 3A/4A players but there are also 3A/4A players that will not fair well against 1A/2A. Good players succeed at whatever the level of competition no matter if they are 1A/2A/3A/4A.

    EXACTLY!!!

Exactly, people should look at the girl, not her school district! You'll find both experienced and inexperienced players in all districts. Some have more experienced players to pull from than others because a lot of girls in their district have been playing rec and TB since they were young. The important thing in high school is to proudly represent your school on the field. Hopefully they learn to play their best and help the less-experienced players learn and play better. Become a team!!

If you get away from Charlotte you will find there are many weak 4A and 3A teams. In our conference (NW4A) There is only one team that is really strong. The rest are pretty weak and will strugggle against many 2a teams. In high school ball you will always have more weak teams than strong ones thats why I like Travelball. Most of the time you are seeing good ball teams

    At Least somebody understands

Today the WNC Sports Awards will be conducted at the Grove Park Inn in Asheville. I wonder why they didn't just lump them all together. They have very intelligently put 1A/2A in one classification and 3A/4A in another. They are smart enough to know you can't compare apples to oranges.

    hold On Mr Fruit Cocktail!

Maybe they just wanted to reckognize more players for their accomplishments and the most simple way to do that is by HS classification; much like the All-State nominations.....Apples and Oranges I don't think so!

there is an easy way to settle what is at the crux of this dispute... go out and try out for your district state games team. That should settle the matter! :)

Maybe, but I don't think so. If that were the case they would have seperated it out into 4 classifications instead of putting 1A/2A together and 3A/4A together.

    1A-4A

We have pitchers in our 1A/2A conference who could win in any division. It all depends on the feeder programs, and the individual work ethic. If you don't have good youth programs you will not have great HS programs. A few years ago, Cherryville (small 1A) beat Olympic (4A) in 5 innings.
