so my question is.....sac bunt.....player lays down the bunt....fielder makes error on the play, batter reaches first. How should that be scored? Seen it twice this year where it's an at bat.....reach first on error....goes against the batting average.

Should Still Be a Sac Bunt

My understanding on this is that the batter still gets credit for the sac bunt and does not get charged for an at bat.

From the ATEC Softball Scoring Manual:

So, what you want to do is print this off, or go to http://nfca.org.ismmedia.com/ISM2/MultimediaManager/ATEC.pdf and print it off, go to the scorekeeper, roll-up the paper nice and tight, and then poke him in the eye with it.

Just kidding. The scorekeeper is probably someone that was talked into volunteering and doesn't understand all of the ins and outs about softball scorekeeping and is in need of some continuing education. The down side of this is that you might be ask to become the scorekeeper.
