Hey guys. Today the baseball community lost a great person. Some of you in the western part of the state (especially Asheville) may have known him. Jeff Taylor was pitching batting practice to his son (who plays baseball across town at Lynchburg College) and a line drive hit him and unfortunately killed him. Jeff coached AAU when he was living in the Asheville area and was a huge baseball fan.

As sad as this is, and as shocking as it is, I just wanted to remind you guys to be careful out there on the field. Even if you're pitching behind an L screen, make sure you're watching out and staying behind it.

    Jeff

was known to all of us as JT on the High School Baseball Web. Over the years we have followed his son through high school and on to college through his dads posts. JT loved baseball and loved throwing batting practice to his son. He will be missed and this is such a sad story for everyone especially his son. Pray that they will find peace and understanding in such a trying time. I can not imagine what the family is going through right now. Pray for them and keep them in your thoughts.

The viewing for Jeff was tonight. There were hundreds of people there waiting in line up to an hour. The entire Lynchburg College baseball team was there with Jeff Jr, all dressed in Lynchburg College Baseball pullovers. Jeff Sr was dressed in his LC baseball hat with his glove on. There were flowers from pretty much every school in the ODAC along with the Pittsburgh Pirates. I know one guy who drove down from Philly to go to the viewing tonight.

One of the best things I've heard this week is that Jeff Jr was out playing baseball yesterday with his teammates. I'm really glad he didn't turn away from the game.
