Northwood defeated Orange HS 3-2 in a big Mid State 2A contest.

Highlight was Carrie Webster's ('10) walk off bomb in the bottom of the 7th.
Padgett Harrington ('11) led the Chargers with a 2 for 3 night with two RBI's.

The Chargers play again today verses Carrboro and after a practice day Thursday, will face Graham and Orange again on back to back days... yep, playin' on Saturday, thanks to the "rain gods"!

JM Robinson at Hopewell

Usually one person is not at fault for a team loss, but this game is an exception. Robinson's "Coach" Handy, in my opinion, lost the game for her team. She decided to "punish" the seniors who missed Monday's game because of the senior class trip to Disney World by not starting them. Instead, she punished the whole team. Team morale was down the entire time. They were not in the game from the start....mostly because the coach wasn't in the game. If she was going to punish anyone, that is something that needs to happen at practice, but I guess she would have to show up at practice in order to do that. After Tuesday's loss, the coach was so mad at her team that she decided not to practice Wednesday. Does that sound like a coach to you? Don't think so. The girls decided to have a practice on their own...it really says something about the dedication of those girls. Too bad their "coach" doesn't share the same dedication. Don't really know what its gonna take for her to step up but I hope it happens soon!!!

Not trying to take anything away from the Hopewell team...they played an awesome game and have some really talented girls!!! And freshman Dallas King pitched really well for Robinson. But senior Taylor Twitty did not allow a base runner in the 3 innings she was finally allowed to pitch.

I guess us "average joes" will never understand how a kid can get punished doing a SCHOOL SPONSORED ACTIVITY. It seems like too many times coaches get on these power trips just because in HS, a kid/family has no other choice but to play for him/her or quit. Not so in travel ball or beyond HS. You can always transfer....
