I've just heard from a usually reliable source that at least one TB team has forbidden players from participating in the State Games. This is particularly distressing because the Games are scheduled during the week when there should be no conflict with TB games. It is also frustrating that three of the best players in the state are on that TB team. I don't know exactly how many other players will be cheated but I suspect there are more.

At the schools I help coach we never forbid players from participating in TB tournaments or any other functions that they enjoy.

It is disgusting that teams that recruit ready-made players would prevent them from enjoying the sport. If it was a matter of prior commitment I could understand maybe. If it was a matter of losing entry fees I could understand. But to forbid them from playing just because they can control them should not happen.

Maybe the other regions will be plagued by the same handicap and it will even itself out. If not, our region will be at a disadvantage for bringing home the Gold. But since there's not a dollar attached to it there may not be reason for some to want to participate. God bless the almighty dollar!

Isn't it a little bold of you to accuse based upon information that may or may not be true? Sounds like a rumor that needs to be substantiated before you post, don't ya think?

In an equally appalling story, I've heard from a "usually reliable source" (Discovery Channel & History Channel) that the world is ending on Dec 21, 2012. Guess we'll all know soon enough................

I probably know my source a little more personally than you know the history channel. But I'm pleased you would agree that it's appalling if it's true.

    Narcissistic Coaches

Just goes to show that despite what people say, it's NOT always for the girls. I just LOVE a good narcissistic coach. What would softball be without them?

I don't see how a TB coach could possibly forbid playing in a State High School All-Star game if it does not conflict with a tournament they are in...just my humble opinion. I hope your information was a miscommunication or something.

Maybe it's time for the parents to step up and be the parent. Hard to be coach if you dont have players

I see to remember a pervious thread running the oppsite way with HS coach's putting TB off limits to girls and now it appears that it is running the over way and a HS coach is complaining about it

Well all I can say is Whaaa-Whaaa-Whaaa. What comes around gose around. You HS coach's are soooooo full of yourself. Get off your pestal that you put yourself on and realize that the girls that you have on your team would not be at the playing level they have reached without playing TB.

    I understand

You do have to realize that the high school coaches have a bigger picture to look at; school rep, revenue to the school sports program, commitment to the team, commitment to the community, advancement of players and lots more. I think that in most cases high school coaches have these things in there minds when restricting a player. Yea i know the old can get hurt anywhere line and it is true, but it is also much easier to take for a coach if he or she looses a player doing something that he did not allow. Just this week at a high school game a former travel player came up representing her school and playing my DD's school; her first words were I cant play tonight I hurt my leg in a travel tourney this past weekend. Note conference leading team loosing starting player has to hurt. Ask Monte at AC how much commitment he has to his school and community to have the best out there and how that is his responsibility to try to make that happen. And as for the they would not be at there level if not for travel, you are right but however most get into travel to improve so that they can hopefully have a chance to represent there respective school and be proud of where they are when they do it. All that said; I'm only saying they have a point.
