How would you mark this down? For instance , you have a runner on 3rd with no outs...The next at bat hits to second base. The player makes the play at 1st(getting the out) however, the girl on 3rd scores. Would that be mark as a fielders choice or sac. I've heard of several college coaches now consider it a sac. Now understand, the defensive play was for second baseman too play back and was told to give up the run for the out...not for her to play up and make the play at home. While playing deep at second, it's almost impossible to make the play at home , especially with a smart baserunner-however, you always have exception! How would you mark this in the scorebook?

    Simple

Ground out to second with RBI. No sac as the intent did not seem to be to give herself up to move runner. Time at bat, no hit but again rbi got her job done.:bonk:

Yeah, thats the way we've been marking it- It was brought to my attention last week when the SAC tournament was going on...I was talking to some of my old Hit-n-run alumni...Basically , discussing their helmet decals...Thats when this was brought to my attention.

As the GURU said ground out to 2nd, with an RBI, a FC is when you go for another runner instead of the batter who put the ball in play.

In this situation....(runner on 3rd with no outs), explain for me why you wouldn't award a kid a sac for hitting a ground ball to second and scoring the run from 3rd? Why would there be a difference in this situation, as opposed to hitting a medium flyball to OF that runner tags and scores on, or if batter placed a perfect bunt (maybe suicide squeeze) whereby she was thrown out at first, but run was scored from 3rd on the play?

I say if ball is put in play, batter should be rewarded with more than just an RBI. If run is brought home, why should we penalize that batter for doing her job?
