    Moved to tonight

Rain in the area forced the game to tonight....should be a good one....Womack against Pierce I think...but with an extra days rest Britt won't be far behind........Scotland is playing the best they have all year but facing
Womack will be a tough challenge.

    Scotland Wins MSEC

    Scotland MSEC Champions!
Scotland wins against Hoke County despite the 18 K's by Hoke County's Ronald Womack. Yes, 18 K's on the night for HC ace pitcher.
Ryan Pierce had a rough 1st inning but settle down to record the win. Curt Britt came in in the 6th with one out and runner on 3rd base. Britt struck the first batter out, walked the second batter and then struck out the next batter to leave runners on 1st and 3rd.
Womack pitched a no-hit shutout against Scotland the first time they met but Ryan Pierce made sure that didn't happen this time. He was the second batter in the 1st inning and he drove a ball in the gap for a stand up double. The pinch runner (John Yarbough) scored on a wild pitch.
Hoke County got on the board in the first inning due to three straight hits, a hit batter, ROE by SS then another base hit to score three runs. They then left the bases loaded due to a P3 and strike out looking.
In the top of the 2nd, Scotland got off to another good start when third baseman Paul Yarbough hit the ball into right field for a single. Then after a strike to the #9 batter, the #1 batter received a walk. Womack strikes out the next batter. He then was able to get Scotland first baseman (Phillip Williams) to hit the ball to the 2B Donald Womack. But the throw to first was over the head of the first baseman to allow two runs to score. Later, Williams scored after a single by the catcher (Ryan Walker). Scotland was up 4 to 3.
Hoke was back on the board in the 6th inning after Pierce walked Donald Womack and #14 David Santiago drilled a ball to the wall for a slide in triple. That's when Britt entered the game to shut down the Bucks the rest of the game.
Scotland scored three more runs in the top of the 6th, Pierce was hit by a pitch, Williams walked, Walker walked, Britt walked (Pierce scored, then on a wild pitch Williams scored for the last run of the game.

    Scotland 6
    Hoke 4
    Winning Pitcher:
    Ryan Pierce, 5 1/3 innings, 94 pitches, 26 batters, 6 hits (double & triple), ROE, 2 BB, HB, 7 k's & 4 runs (3 earn).
    Save:
    Curt Britt, 1 2/3 innings, 31 pitches, 7 batters, hit, BB, 5 k's
    Losing Pitcher:
    Ronald Womack, 7 innings, 164 pitches, 6 hits (Double), 2 ROE's, 6 BB, 3 HB, 6 runs (3 earn), 18 k's.

    Batters:
    Scotland
Ryan Walker (Sr) 1-1, HB, 2 BB
    Travis Walters, (Jr) 2-4, 2 k's
    Paul Yarbough, (Jr) 2-4, 2 k's
    Ryan Pierce, (Sr) 1-4 (2B), run HB, 3 K's
    Hoke
Lewis Whitfield (Jr), 3-4, Run, RBI
    Jordan Cummins, 1-4, run, 3 k's
    Ronald Womack (Jr), 1-4, run, 2 k's
    David Santiago, 1-3, 2B, RBI

Note: Lewis Whitfield, Hoke county SS has a very good bat; line drive hitter, very impressive.

Ronald Womack threw 164 pitches, Why did this coach allow this?.......this is terrible to allow a talented kid like this to throw that many pitches. This kid continued to throw well in the seventh inning, as a matter of fact, he struck out two out the three outs. But you can't allow a kid to throw this many pitches in a game........Why Coach?
For Womack, all three outs in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th & 6th were by K's. He recorded two K's in the 1st, 5th & 7th; this is unbelievable! 18 out of the 21 outs is by strike outs! He struck out 7 out of the 9 starting batters and one pinch hitter for Scotland. Womack is a very impressive pitcher!

    Congratulations Scots

Congratulations on an impressive win and on the conference championship. From what I understand the program is in great shape with lots of young talent coming by way of an outstanding group of 8th graders that have won lots of tournaments together. The group that is currently there is talented as well, good luck in the playoffs. Now just get the football program back where it needs to be and you are all set.
