They aren't done. What was being implied was that the roster will not be found online. Some regions send out acceptance letter with the players named that were selected. Those are what get posted here. But, overall, it's when the games begin that we find out total rosters

I understand that the Senior's East squad had been selected, but I haven't heard anything from the west.

So if the games come and go, I guess it's apparent your kid didn't make the team! LOL

Region 5 has not completed tryouts. Now a few observations.

Before anyone gets upset because their kid did not make it, choosing these teams is a very difficult job. My son is trying out in Region 5, Greensboro, Winston, High Point, davidson County, maybe Burlington and surrounding areas. I have watched the infielders, some bullpens and obviously the catchers. The talent that comes out is tremendous. While making this team is an honor there is also no shame in not making it. There is just that much talent out there. It's hard to go wrong.

You have situations where a kid may have a poor tryout yet has played well all year. I heard some parents bitching already, "no way he should make it," yet the kid has had a great year. What is a coach supposed to do, ignore a years worth of achievment? I don't think so.

One area that could improve is where the coaches come from. In our region there are 4 accomplished coaches, 3 from Winston and one from Davidson County. It would be nice if they could have gotten coaches to volunteer from all areas of the region. But what we have to remember is the key word, VOLUNTEER. These guys are not paid and are taking time away from their families and their own summer team. But it would help if the coaches came from all areas of the region. At our tryouts it is very apparent that the kids from areas that compete against these coaches are well known to the coaches. You can tell watching the tryouts most of the kids that will make it. And most deserve to make it, but a few don't shine above some that won't make it. But being known defintely helps.

Selecting these teams is tough. 80% of the team is easy to pick. Filling those last 3,4,5 spots is tougher. Having played in front of the coaches as an opponent or gotten some exposure through the internet or other avenues can help.

Keep in mind, making the team is an honor but there is no shame in not being selected. The coaches have a tough job.

And then you factor in the coaches that choose their own players over some maybe better talented kids because they ARE their players. Anyone who has been selected to try out is obvioiusly talented. How many people are involved in the selection? How much of it is "who you know" and not "how good you are?" I'm just sayin....

So true. You have some "street agents" or showcase or aau coaches involved in the process sometimes. No situation is perfect. Heck, last year we had Impact coaches involved in the selection process. I've seen a parent involved in the tryout process. We even had a kid make it one year and was told he made it simply because he played for Impact. But he was pretty good. he deserved it as much as anyone.

Its all about politics. In some regions if you don't attend all of the tryouts you don't make the team then one of the coaches keeps one of his own players. What a joke!!!

That was my point. I think the coaches do the best they can and that it is a tough job. I don't know how you took that some other way.
