I was just contacted by the Fastpitch organization asking me if we wanted to bring the best 12 NC fastpitch players to a competition in Orlando Fla. to compete for the right to play some international competition. SC is working on a team and several other states have teams and have competed in past years.
The cost to a participate is $199 per player but includes a uniform, lodging, 2 meals a day, a day in Disney theme park, recruiting assistance, invitation to the colleges you are pursuing, access to college coaches contacts, opening ceremony and dinner, and several other items. Unlike many events, this one sounds reasonable.

What do you think? Would there be any interest? NC softball is pretty good, how can we compete nationally if we truly find a top 12 group? If interested, I will research and find out all details but it looked interesting. The tournament is in August, pretty much a down time for travel ball.:N1butbutHL:

** Oh, they actually assist with tryouts and team selection**

I think our 12 best (nc) could compete with anyone. Only problem would be it would hurt the TB teams they play for. I don't think August is down time, at least for us it is usually our biggest month of playing. Still good to see more and more opportunities for our girls to get to play somewhere

    yes

a few years back, a group of dads got together and started a team, no names until i'm forced to prove what i'm saying, but anyway, this team was formed at the 12u level of the best that we knew of in our area.
we played asa nationals, and finished tied for 9th, and at that time, it was the highest finish of any nc team in asa.
at the end of the season what happened?, yep the silly season kicked in and some of the kids moved on to other teams. no slander. the next year we finish usssa ranked #1 in the usa, finished the nationals placing fifth.
now, was it worth it? hell yes it was worth every pen

    i say go for it!

....hey bro, as you must have read by now, I'm cool with moving forward. I did not fully read your initial thread, and just figured that when I saw 12, it meant 12u. My bad.
Clarify what age groups if you will please.

Assuming this is for players that are rising seniors or juniors....

This would be the true definition of a showcase team. August through the end of October is the prime time for players to get exposure prior to the November early signing period.
