Both teams hit the ball well, Hunt may be a bit more athletic team than Aycock, pitching not real deep on either. Little field and the winds blowing hard today. Winner will be the one who get the most up in the air. Play Ball.

    The Rubber Game

    Teams split during the regular-season;
    Hunt takes 1st game 11-5.
    Aycock takes 2nd game 11-8.

Alot of runs given up in both games. Expect more of the same tonight.

In game 1 this year @ Aycock, Hunt's batters pounded Aycock pitching w/ 3 home runs & 12 hits overall. Ches Lamm got the victory & combined with Zack Lee to allow only 3 hits overall. Jordan Quinn took the loss. Quinn battled control problems the entire game. Connor Narron was out due to a back injury.

In game 2, Aycock came from behind to beat Hunt 11-8. Aycock batted around in the sixth inning. A bases-loaded triple by Will Edgerton was the big blow. Eric Dubose got the victory in relief of Adron Hollowell. Jimmy Kearney took the save. Hunt was plagued by errors & 8 unearned runs. Zack Lee was the losing pitcher for Hunt.

Don't be surprised to see 6 or more home runs tonight by these 2 offensive-minded teams. This will not be a pitchers duel.

As I said, neither team has much pitching. I think both will struggle to go deep in playoffs, but who knows. Might need extra dozen balls for tonight.

    The Mound will be busy!

Jon Smith might use 5-6 pitchers tonight before this ones over.
Prepare to see Ches Lamm, Jacob Hackney, Zack Lee, Sam Strickland, Jake Strickland, & maybe even Kyle Pittman before it's over. Smith yanks a pitcher quickly, at the first sign of trouble. C.B. Aycock may use 3 pitchers at the most. Charles Davis has a tendency to stick with pitchers longer before switching out. The wind could play a major factor tonight with Aycock's small field. Home runs may come frequently. May need two dozen extra baseballs.

    C.B. Aycock 4 Wilson Hunt 2

    WP: Eric Dubose (4 2/3rds innings, 7 hits, 2 Earned Runs, 2 walks, 2 k's)
    LP: Zack Lee (4 1/3rd inning, 9 hits, 4 earned runs, 3 walks, 2 k's)

    Hitting:
CBA: Will Edgerton (3-4, 1 run, 1 Rbi)
CBA: Adron Hollowell (3-3, 1 Rbi)
CBA: Nickalas McGee (1-3, 1 Rbi)
CBA: Jordan Quinn (1-3, 1 run)
CBA: Jonathan Taylor (1-2, 1 run)
Hunt: Zach Houchins (1-4 w/ home run)
    Hunt: Seth Wiggs (2-3)
    Hunt: Ches Lamm (1-1)
Hunt: Jerome Richardson (1-2, 1 run)
    Hunt: Sam Strickland (1-3)
    Hunt: Jake Strickland (1-4)

The expected slugfest never materialized. Both starting pitchers did a good job keeping the other team off balance. Aycock squandered a bases-loaded, no-outs situation in the bottom of the 3rd. Both Connor Narron & Jonathan Taylor were picked off their respective bases for outs 1 & 2, and then Lee struck out McGee to end the inning. Hunt suffered a base-running mistake in the top of the same inning when Sam Strickland was caught between 3rd & home on a fly ball to left field. Adron Hollowell came on in relief in the 5th for Aycock & struck out 5 of the 10 batters he faced the rest of the way.

C.B. Aycock takes on Eastern Wayne Monday night for the ECC tourney championship & then hosts Wilson Fike in the 1st round of the state playoffs Friday night.
Wilson Hunt must now travel to West Brunswick Friday night as the ECC's 3rd seed.
