Big HR stats are nice and they sell tickets, but they's a WHOLE LOT MORE that goes into winning baseball games, especially this time of year. It is no coincidence that you often see the same programs (i.e. COACHES) still playing this time of year, while most folk are putting up equipment.

Btw, refer to Ragsdale's pitching stats,,, everybody knows pitching and defense is what will win ballgames this time of year.

Well I guess I should say "some" people know that pitching and defense wins ballgames, certainly everyone doesn't know this... :piss2:

You guys are up awful early "fishing", but as much as i would like to bite i will wait and see what the new tiger poster (ftftigers) has to say. sometimes my comments are a little harsh and i would not want my post deleted like it was on that other board. i will just say you can hit alot of home runs when it is 280 ft to right center field.

Strike... that is a really valid point. I've said it here before but it's worth repeating... When my son played with the DB's at the WWB in East Cobb, they used a lot of the local high schools for the tournament. All of them had fences that were 315' to 320' down the lines and at least 385' to center. This is why you see more and more kids drafted or signed out of this area. They have proven that their power is legit.
I remember talking to an Astros scout who was looking at Landon Powell when he was at Apex. The field at Apex at the time was a bandbox. The scout said you really couldn't take Powell's stats seriously when half his games were played on that field. About that time Landon drilled one way up into the pines beyond the left field fence. The scout smiled and said " Now, you can take that one seriously!"

I would like to see FT Foard put up those home run numbers in the NPC conference and on fields with 315 lines and 350-380 centers. Wouldn't happen. Mooresville, Lake Norman, East Rowan and West Rowan are spraying about 10-15 homeruns for the year in the NPC and these teams wack the ball!

Now PutMeInCoach, sounds like the NPC teams need to be drinking their RedBulls... :pepper:

Foards field is 320 in left 350 in center and 300 in right. they could match up with those teams in the north piedmont.

they have hit 12 homeruns at home this year and 13 on the road.

    Well

the most I was ever a part of was 40. Our 3-4-5 hitters accounted for 28 of those. Our park is 315 down the lines 365 alleys and 385 to cf. And guess what? We were not a good hitting team. We had four or five guys in the line up that couldnt hit good pitching. They only hit the puss throwers. They K'd so much we bought a stamp with a K on it for the scorebook.

We will see who the good hitting teams really are very soon. They will be the teams that are still playing after they face legit pitching over the next couple of weeks. They will also be the teams that have a 5-9 that can put the ball in play and turn the line up over against quality opponents. So its only a matter of time before this plays itself out.
