    MPHS Wins first round of RRC tourney

    Congratulations to the Varsity Softball team on their win against Albemarle yesterday in the first round of the Rocky River Conference Tournament. The Lady Tigers outscored the Bulldogs 15-0. With the win, the Lady Tigers are 22-2 overall and 18-1 in the RRC. The next round will be tonight at North Stanly in the semi-finals against the Forest Hills / N. Stanly winner at 5:30 pm.

    Winning pitcher was Linda Henderson who got her first varsity win in big fashion with a perfect game. She pitched the 3 inning victory allowing no hits, no walks and striking out 5 Bulldog batters. Congratulations Linda !!!!

    Leading hitters were:

    Lindsay Crudele who was 2 for 3 at the plate with 2 doubles and 4 RBIs
    Alley Kindley who was 2 for 2 at the plate with a double and 2 RBIs
    Taylor Miller and Emily Walters was 2 for 2 at the plate with 1 RBI.
    Jocelyn Parnell, 1 for 2 with a double and 2 RBIs
    Allison Starnes, 1 for 2 with an RBI
    Lindsey Huneycutt, Emily Lewis and Linda Henderson each collected 1 hit apiece.

    Great Job ladies !!!! Get ready for tonight !!!!!

    Coach Carter would like to remind the student body to come out and support YOUR Lady Tigers at North Stanly tonight at 5:30. We would love to have a large rowdy crowd to give these ladies a boost !!!!!

    Piedmont/Marvin Ridge and standings

    Piedmont 3
    MRidge 2

    Great game, especially the over the shoulder, diving AWAY from the plate toward the wall by the marvin ridge center fielder (sorry, don't know her name) It looked like at least a double and rbi with 2 outs, but that kid ran it down and made a major league grab. Looked like Jim Edmonds of the St. Louis Cardinals!!

    1st- Porter Ridge (at home for first round states)
    2nd Tie Hickory Ridge and Piedmont (play Wed at 4:30) (winner stays home for first round, loser goes on the road)
    4th-Marvin Ridge (going on the road for states, but in)
    5th-Tie Sun Valley and Concord (may have playoff game to see who goes to the states, winner would be on the road)
