    FUNNY!

:clown7:Look at the other regions, they have more than 2 players, take the best players! If they are from the same team, then they deserve it! Some regions barley had enough to make 15....... At least 2 or 3 coaches made the picks.......All the girls that made it, regardless who, or where, deserve it.......
No system is perfect.........Hey we could have a A team and B team..yea right! It's an all star game! let them shine!

I think the best should be taken, regardless of the team and if they come disproportionately from one high school that's the way it goes... as long as they are the best AND they show up for tryouts. It is a competition after all.

I do hope that everyone that wanted to play tried out. I know of a girl in Region 7 that has hit 9 homeruns this year and she is not on the team... but she may not have tried out.

IMHO... just to chime in about region 7. Derrick Hill wants to win. I know enough about him to say that he wouldnt select any player unless he thought they were deserving. Was he 100% right? This a subjective process. Its not like golf where you shoot one of the 5 low scores and you make the team that week. Its possible someone could have gotten overlooked. Anytime you do this type of thing someones feelings are going to get hurt. Thats just a fact.

I am not sure but I dont believe all the AC players who came out made it. I could be mistaken tho'

let me add this: the real winners in this are the kids that may not have made it but left more determined than ever to "show" somebody they can play. I'll write a book on all this when we are done: hopefully come September! lol

ps: I was at both region 7 try outs and i didnt see a monster power bat either time so this player you mention may not have come out.

Yes... I think this girl did not try out... which is unfortunate.

Did all the girls that made the team actually show up for tryouts?

My daughter is in Region 3 and she was notified this morning. I'm not sure when the complete list will be posted.

Well, I am putting my 2 sense worth in about Region 7 also. My daughter was one 3 pitchers that came to the 1st tryout for Region 7. Only 9 players were there. Derrick Hill did not even try out the pitchers. He practiced everyone batting and fielding and we were then all told to come to the next tryout the following week. He was also overheard telling his assistant coach that 7 AC girls were trying out the next week. Needless to say, we left with a very bad taste in our mouth for the state games. We were told by the State game officials that you only had to come to one tryout and that ALL of the coaches would be at each one. Monte Sherrill was not at the 1st tryout. We elected to go to the 1st one because our travel team had a tournament the next week. We did not go to the 2nd tryout and she did not make the team.

For those of us in the northeastern part of the state that are not familiar with Region 7 could someone fill us in? Does Derrick Hill Coach Alexander Central? Are the girls that were selected on his travel team? Is Alexander Central good enough that 8 girls(one is one west senior team)go to the State Games?

If you want a perfect system go to Washington

Capn Slappy,This system is not perfect, Hill is Head coach at East Surry, and a good one, team ranked in the top 10 for several years, defending state champions, Alexander Central has been ranked in top ten for a few years, #1 all season, both very good teams, good coaches........Poindexter is Senior coach, again, very good coach, they all want to win, why settle for 2nd best.
hope this helps you understand...as for the ladies that made the team, don't know all of them, but the ones I do know should of made it..I have faith in the decisions of all the State Champion coaches

    Very good players

Let me start be saying Coach Payne and Coach Hill selected the team. I wanted to stay out of the process because I had so many kids trying out for the team. I had to leave practice about 15 minutes early on the tryout to attend Sunday Night Service, so they made the choices. Region 7 only had 21 kids try out for the team. If you are asking whether my players at AC are good enough to make that team, point blank YES. Ask any HS coach in the area and you will find that they are. In short, everything is relative to the players that actually tryout for the team. Are there players in region 7 who are better than some of the players who made the team? sure. .. But I push my players to tryout for every team. If you have any further questions, you can contact me directly at 828-446-6006 or by email at [email protected] Thanks and good luck to everyone in the playoffs.
