    Seriously

I got the opportunity to take in Senior night at Roxboro Person vs Riverside and I am glad I did. You will not find a better person or coach than Roxboro's head skipper Steve Evans. I am proud to say he is my long time friend. He runs a first class program and his players always play the game hard and with respect. Good luck Friday night coach.

PS: If possible I would like to reserve July 4th weekend on Mt Evans. Thanks!

Nobody works harder on and off the field than Coach Steve Evans. The guy is a jewel. He's also a pretty darn good coach, too. I'm glad he has a sense of humor.

By the way, can I reserve the first week of August

    Nobody is on the bump

:yikes:Upon walking up to the field for our 1st ever game in Roxboro one of the kids asked "who is on the bump?" As I turned the corner at the 1st base dugout I replied " Nobody is on the bump, they are on the mountain!" There were a lot of "holy smokes", "you gotta be kinding me", and "I've never seen anything like that before" that lasted at least until the third inning. Definitely can't do it justice with words. You just have to see it to appreciate the size and magnitude of it.

    Thanks guys!!!

    I appreciate the props....

Seriously though before anybody really bashes our mound let me say this in defense of what we have to do here. OUr pitching rubber is actually only 9" above home plate (1" LOWER than the book says). I actually had a local surveyer come out and shoot our entire infield with his laser transient. Home plate at person is located on the highest point of land on the field. It was lowered by 3" last fall. The field drops 18" from the 3rd base line to 1st base.

2 years ago, the mound was a bit lower. However when I had it shot, our pitching rubber was 4" LOWER than Home plate which meant pitchers had to throw up hill, which was a definite disadvantage. Needless to say our team ERA was higher than "Mt. Evans" could ever be. We had to do something and there was NO MONEY to raise the whole field. We have made the slope where it does drop 1"/ft by rule from the front of the rubber.

With that being said.... GREAT PIC COACH!! I am just amused that you could actually see stretchy on top of the mound!!
