Hate 'em....including Championships. I love the hometown flavors of hosting a special game. To me, it's one of the things that makes HS games the best to watch

    Neutral fields?

In theory it would be the fairest way to conduct the playoffs because the home field definitely gives an advantage to one team over the other. However economically, the gate would suffer at a neutral field for the early playoff games. For example, here in Greenville for our first playoff game against Person, we will have a pretty good turn out from past players, past player parents, etc. for the game. If the game was played at a neutral field in Rocky Mt., probably the main people attending would be parents of current players. I doubt if the locals in Rocky Mt. would give a rat's butt about seeing a Rose/Person game except for a few diehards so the gate would suffer.

The best way to overcome the homefield advantage in early playoff games is to win the games during the regular season and be the higher seeded team which is the reward for having the better season.

Good thoughts. I would say early rounds yes to home games. Championship games to larger venues. Maybe a weekend type event with ticket covering all the games that day. Promote it, sell it. Split the gate four ways to equal shares. Football does it correct? I would even love to see a championship series. Best two out of three.
