We are looking for officials that are now working high school or travel ball softball tournaments, who might want to go through training to move up to the collegiate level. This is a great opportunity for those wishing to get a chance to move up to see where they stand and also to learn from some very experienced and well respected umpires, that are now officiating at the DI level. If anyone is interested please leave me a private message and I assure you we will be in touch.

    What Sanction?

For travel ball, by far, the best umpires are ASA. What sanction are you recruiting for? I wish more HS umpires would call ASA and get the ASA training.

    NCAA...

    The training is top shelf.....

    Without it, NCAA stands for
No Chance At All to call at the college level

I know I'll get banned for this, but I would not tell any umpires to go to ASA until they get rid of Buster the Clown. That guy has made an absolute mess of tournaments. All they do down there is take people's money and then make them get Sunday religion (there is a time and place for everything) when what they should be doing is trying to get games in before the storms come, and then he makes everyone stand around in the pouring rain for an hour and a half while they sit and figure out if they owe anyone money. There have been other tournaments where the girls got no trophies for 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place, and at one tournament Buster the Clown took his act to a pitchers mound and preached to all the parents what bad sports they were. Please get rid of him before you lose everyone to the NSA, and then you might get some better umpires and a few more teams in your tournaments.

    READ THE POST

    People

This is a post directed at current umpires working high school and travel ball tournaments that want to commit the time and effort to go through the NCAA sanctioned training to become a certified NCAA umpire....
The process is time consuming and expensive, but will prepare a dedicated individual to work our game at the highest level...

It is not about bad travel ball umps, etc
If you want to cry about that...
    Create a new thread...
    Here is a possible name...

TRAVEL BALL UMPIRES...Can't play without them, can't shoot them!

Even better. There are a lot of NCAA umpires who call ASA ball in the summer.

    Recruiting Umpires

Over the past several years, I have actually tried to assist in the development of the travel ball officials, some have welcomed the effort, while others took it as an infringement on their territory. We have also offered this to the NC High School Federation, and this too was rejected. So our focus has turned to strictly the NCAA levels. It is my belief and I'm sure WndmillR will agree, that if officials would attend this training, no matter if they want to be a collegiate official or not, it would improve the game for the young ladies that play the sport. And that should be the ultimate goal of everyone involved. But this thread was put out to try and recruit officials that would like a chance to move up to the next level.

    Absolutely

Players and coaches at all levels attend camps and seek further training
    to make themselves better...

Why wouldn't an umpire want to also seek opportunities to get better?
