    Game time Sanderson @ Broughton

I would guess 4:00 as no lights and the last time we played at Broughton this year it was 4:00.

    You can learn a lot

about people by the way they post after a win and especially a loss. Great post coach. Great season, I know you are proud of your team.

Northwest Guilford 4-3 over West Forsyth in 8

Good baseball tonight between two solid teams. West gets off early with a Dustin Myers 2 out double scoring Adam Griffin who drew a walk. West extends the lead to 3-1 on a Myers two run HR scoring Jonathan Holt who had walked NWG loads the bases in the bottom of the 7th but Tyler Coyles relieves Myers and score tied at 3. Robbie McIntosh throws last 4 innings for NWG and does a great job shutting down the Titan. Sac fly in bottom of 8th to end the game. Great bat by the 2 hitter (sorry no name) who fouls off numerous balls to hit the fly. Ryan Mayhew threw 3 plus solid innings for West. The catcher for NWG (Swink) is a man hitting the baseball. There was nothing we threw him that he didn't rail to the outfield(3 hits). Good season for West with a real solid returning core for next season. Good luck to all who are still in the playoffs.

Scotland & Curt Britt shut out Pine Forest

    Team 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 R H E
    Pine Forest -0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 1 2
    Scotland - 1 0 0 0 1 0 - 2 6 3

    Winning Pitcher:
    Curt Britt, 7 Innings, 1 hit, 1 BB, 3 ROE, 0 runs, 6 K's
    Losing Pitcher:
    #33 Chris Mc. 6 innings, 6 hits, 1 BB, 2 ROE, 2 earn runs, 3 k's

Top of the first, the lead off batter hit into a 5-3 first out, then the second batter for PF (SS-Ron G.) reached on an error by the SS. Britt strikes out 3B - Josh Shamban. First pitch to next batter Ron attempts to steal second but Scotland catcher Ryan Walker (SR) throws a bullet down to 2B to get runner out by 4 or 5 feet to end the inning.
Bottom of second, Scotland SS - Kevin Norton leads off with a double down the line. Norton advances to 3rd when Ryan Pierce hits into a 6-3 first out. Scotland first baseman, Phillip Williams hits a two strike pitch to the right center gap for an RBI double. PF gets the next two batters to hit into a 1-3 & L7, 2nd and 3rd out of inning.
In the top of the fifth, PF first baseman, Ryan Shamban reaches on an error. After the PF pitcher attempts to move runner to second, the Scotland catcher (Ryan Walker) catches the base runner sleeping on first. He fires a bullet to the first baseman and Shamban is about 10 feet from the bag when the first baseman catches the ball; Shamban is caught in a run down, 2-3-6 for the first out of inning. A strike out and a 5-3 ends the top half of the fifth.
In the bottom of fifth, Scotland 3B Paul Yarbough leads off with a stand up double off the left field wall. Then on an attempt sac butt, LF Cody Macure reaches first base on an error by catcher. With runners on the corners the #1 batter and #2 batters are retired via strike out and a pop out to catcher. Then Phillip Williams comes through again, RBI single to drive in Yarbough from third base. Williams drives in both of Scotland runs tonight. Walker hits into a FC to end the inning.
In the top of the seventh, Britt had pitched 6 1/3 innings without a hit. Then after J. Shamban reaches on an error by SS, PF 2B - Greg Allen breaks up Britt No-hitter with a single to right field but on a base runner error by J. Shamban he is caught in no man land between 2nd and 3rd for the 2nd out of the inning. Then Ryan Shamban hits into a 3U for the last out of game.

Note: NC State coach was in attendance to watch Curt Britt pitch. Also, in stands was Canes South coach Doug Collins.
Curt Britt was very effective with his pitches tonight but wasn't at his best. In the first inning he was 86-88 on the fast ball. In the seventh inning he dropped to 84-86.
Scotland catcher Ryan Walker (Sr) is one of the best defensive catchers in the state; if not the best. He was 2 for 2 tonight on runners attempting to steal on him. In the Scotland games that I have attended this year (4) he has thrown out every runner that has attempted to steal. He has also thrown out three at first base.

    Batters:
    Scotland
    Phillip Williams (Sr) 2-3, 2B, 2 RBI's
Travis Walters (Jr) 1-2, ROE, BB
Paul Yarbough (Jr) 2-3, 2B, ROE, Run
Kevin Norton (Sr) 1-3, 2B, Run

    Pine Forest:
    Greg Allen 1-3

    Butler 6 Myers Park 1

Butler's bats came out swinging putting up 3 in the first and 3 more in the third cruising to a victory at Myers Park. Matt Varnadoe kept Myers Park off balance with a great curveball for the complete game victory. Chris Overman takes the loss, ending a fine high school career at MPHS. Brian Holberton , Joe Hager and Harrison Henney all had 2 hit games for MPHS. Robert Balsley pitched the last 3 hitless innings for Myers Park, striking out 6; too little, too late. Butler made the plays all evening; Myers Park committed 5 errors..

Good luck to Butler as they represent the SW4A Friday night travelling to South Caldwell.
