For those interested in this game, post your thoughts here:

Both teams have players experienced in the State Championship, but AK has NEVER played in a game like they will in Smallville. The players and the fans of South Caldwell are great people. They will open their arms welcoming you, while busting you in the chops to beat you. Then they will help you back up, pat you on the back and warmly ask you to come again.

This will not be the game for the timid. I assume that SC will be throwing UNC signee, Cody Penny. This kid has it all with an attitude to match. The players for SC are cocky, confident and are not used to losing---as are their fans. They will be roaring before the first pitch and won't stop until the last out.

Thankfully, Coach Bagwell has a lot of experience playing in this special place and I know he will prepare accordingly. But I hope the players and parents know how to deal with 2,000 screamin' Spartans supporting their team.

It will be fun to watch Alex Wood handle himself and the young Knights compete because the environment will be electric.

Coach Parham always has a well coached team and they play especially well at home. It's been two years since I made my last trek at The Rock...and I already have the pork chop sandwiches on order. This should be a classic!!!!

WOW! 2000 fans... unbelieveable atmosphere! Can only imagine how jacked up all the players will be! Would enjoy experiencing something like that, as a spectator... Good luck to both and enjoy (and enjoy the pork chop sammich!)

Watauga wins 4-1.....AK beats Watauga 11-0

I doubt that other teams' scores will matter in this showdown

    Here's some more comparisons

South Caldwell beat the 6th place SW4A team 5-4. They beat the 4th place SW4A team 1-0. Ardrey Kell finished conference with the second best record in the SW4A. Last Friday night South Caldwell saw a similar team to Ardrey Kell, but here's the differences:

As much as I like Butler's lefty Patrick McMahon, Alex Wood kicks it up several more notches. Ardrey Kell's defense is better than Butler's D and their offense is significantly better from top to bottom. I wouldn't count on a 1-0 win against AK and although your fans are truly the best, classiest, most passionate fans I have seen in 4 years; it won't phase AK. Remember they were down 5-0, AT Providence, against Richie Shaffer last Friday and WON!
    Good Luck to both teams.

Approximately how far is South Caldwell from the Greensboro/Winston Salem area? I might want to make the trip for this one

It's about 20 minutes up the road (321) from Hickory.

I think the reason Alex went to the Providence pen to warm up was because the AK bullpen was full of fans. Coach Hignight had to come clear it out so Wood could come back to warmup

I may be wrong there, but thats what it looked like to me

It was crazy. At the beginning of the game there were only 3 people there---during the game families with small kids started coming over. It was really nuts that parents were allowing there alittle one's run around in there. AWood could have plunked one in the head.

I stand down there every game I attend and never has it been anyone other than scouts or coaches down there. But I realized that there wasn't any place for familes to sit....it was packed to the gills.

No, Danny didn't come over. Fortunately, the fathers figured out it wouldn't be wise for AWood to flatten there kids, so they either moved or got out of the way.

Danny couldn't complain too much--it was a nice boxoffice

Funny thing is during the first game when Prov was at AK the Prov pitchers DID warm up in the AK bullpen before and during the game. Maybe they need directions too!
