In the semi's of the 4A East, CAP 7 rivals # 3 seed Sanderson and #1 seed Millbrook will face off at Millbrook Tuesday night. This matchup guarantees a CAP 7 team in the East Finals for the third straight year. Leesville appeared in 2007 and Sanderson in 2008.

Millbrook swept Sanderson in two CAP 7 games this year with Millbrook ace Jake Harris throwing two CG's in 3-0 and 3-2 wins.

Should be a packed house with plenty of red and blue in the stands.

    Any thoughts?

    Sanderson is Peaking:

After losing twice to Broughton during the regular-season, Sanderson issues payback during the playoffs.

After losing twice to Millbrook during the regular-season, Sanderson will continue their payback tour in the playoffs with a low-scoring close victory over Millbrook.(something like 3-2)

Sound defense, good pitching, & timely hitting will send Sanderson into the Eastern Finals & a rematch with Greenville Rose.

    My Prediction

Millbrook 4 to 0....Sanderson's Wigmore, with bunt single in the seventh, breaks up Daniel Brown's complete game no-hitter.

Should be a great game between two top teams.

    Now My Correction!!!

Still Millbrook 4 to 0.....But Sanderson's Wigmore, with a bunt single in the seventh, will break up Jake Harris's complete game no-hitter.

Sorry about the mix-up, Broughton's Daniel Brown and Millbrook's Harris were both pretty dominate this year in the CAP 7 and I had a senior moment.

A ticket purchased for this game will be well worth the money! (By the way...this prediction was not sanctioned by Vegas).

Sanderson eliminates CAP 7 conference champs 12-0

Sorry I am late as I had to go to the Sawmill Tap Room after the game - - you Raleigh boys know what I am talking about.

Sanderson came out swinging as the visiting #3 seed and scored 9 runs in the first three innings while Spartan P/C Max Gagnon was only facing 9 batters in the first three innings with no hits. Gagnon ended up throwing 4 innings with 5K's, no walks and NO RUNS. Then crafty lefty P John McFarling closed out the fifth. Great defense backing the pitching. No bunts needed as the ball was flying off the bats all night.

In 4 playoff games Sanderson starting pitchers (Srs. Wolfe & Gagnon) have pitched 26 innings, allowed one earned run and walked 2 batters. This is the second shut out in 4 playoff games. It will get tougher vs defending champs Rose.

Game only lasted 5 innings as Sanderson was up 12-0. VERY LARGE Sanderson student body at the game was very vocal.

The big part of the score is the goose egg for Millbrook after having beaten Sanderson twice in the regular season.

Sanderson hitters -- multi-hit batters were SS Kyle Wigmore with 2-3, 2B Robert Brunson 2-3, P/C Max Gagnon 2-2, and DH Jon King 2-3.

Now it is onto Greenville for a rematch of last years 4A East Finals vs Rose.

Good luck Spartans. You are playing your best baseball at this time. Keep it up and I will see you in Greenville tomorrow night after I eat BBQ at Parkers and get some sweet tea. B’s will be closed by dinner time.
