Heard today that Willie Stewart resigned as Head Coach of the Bulldogs. Additionally, Assoc. Head Coach Tim Perry is also not going to be back.

I will always be indebted to both Coach Stewart and Coach Perry for giving my son the chance to play college baseball. I wish them both the best in whatever the future holds for them.

Yeah, I'm sorry to hear this because Coach Stewart is a very good coach and a better person. I don't think it's a surprise to many, but it's unfortunate just the same.

College baseball is a business and coaches jobs are on the line. Sometimes parents and kids don't realize this when a coach makes his decisions on who plays and who sits. It's not about politics, it's about producing. If a coach wins, he keeps his job, so his decisions are based on who gives him the best opportunity to win....not who he likes best.

Coach Stewart is young and will land on his feet. Good luck to him in his future.

Rumor in Big South circles is that the assistant coach who used to coach at TC Roberson (forgot his name, sorry) is in line to be the head coach.

He's a great coach and I believe could do an outstanding job, but I would be shocked if it happens. One generally doesn't promote a coach from a staff that was fired.

I would like to thank Coach Stewart and his staff for giving Ryan a chance to play up there. He was very honest with him and straight forward with him. He's a great guy and he will be fine in the future. We all wish him will in whatever he decides to do next.

The rumor that SuperJon mentions does have some legs, just not sure how strong those legs are. Financially for UNC-A, Coach Smith would be a nice option. He already gets a full pension from the state of NC and I assume the players and recruits really like him. He's a great guy and we know he can coach.

I like him..a lot. I'm not sure that he wants to do this full time as the HC or that he wants to get into the recruiting end. But if they go that way, he would be a perfect fit.

After reading Ms. Cone's comments I think she'll bring in a lower division coach or hot assistant looking to move up to D1. I hope she keeps Tommy on for consistency. What about the 2010 recruits? Hope they don't leave them hanging.
