Sanderson won over Millbrook 12-0 in 5 innings.
Max Gagnon Pitch 4 innings giving up only 1 hit.
Great Game for Sanderson. They really hit the ball well plus their defense was strong!!!!

    Rematch

I was a part of the 1992 Rose vs. Sanderson semi game. I wish the Spartans all the luck. Let's beat Rose again.

Wow, way to go Coach Laughlin and the fella's.

    Did Harris pitch for Millbrook?

    Good luck vs Rose!

    Raleigh Sanderson v Greenville Rose

    Sanderson 12
    Millbrook 0

Jake Harris did not pitch for Millbrook but I don't think it made any difference. Millbrook had a big gosse egg on the scoreboard and only got 2 innings for the game.

Sorry I am late as I had to go to the Sawmill Tap Room after the game - - you Raleigh boys know what I am talking about.

Sanderson came out swinging as the visiting #3 seed and scored 9 runs in the first three innings while Spartan P/C Max Gagnon was only facing 9 batters in the first three innings with no hits. Gagnon ended up throwing 4 innings with 5K's, no walks and NO RUNS. Then crafty lefty P John McFarling closed out the fifth. Great defense backing the pitching. No bunts needed as the ball was flying off the bats all night.

In 4 playoff games Sanderson starting pitchers (Srs. Wolfe & Gagnon) have pitched 25 innings, allowed one earned run and walked 2 batters. This is the second shut out in 4 playoff games. It will get tougher vs defending state champs Rose.

Game only lasted 5 innings as Sanderson was up 12-0. VERY LARGE Sanderson student body at the game was very vocal.

Now it is onto Greenville for a rematch of last years 4A East Finals vs Rose.

Good luck Spartans. You are playing your best baseball at this time. Keep it up and I will see you in Greenville tomorrow night after I eat my BBQ at Parkers and get some sweet tea. B’s will be closed by dinner time.

    Rose fans look forward....

.....to having the honor of playing Sanderson again this year. Sanderson impressed the heck out of me last year with their play and attitude on the field. Their fans, especially their students, were extremely supportive of their team with positive cheering (and not negative cheering toward Rose). I really enjoyed watching Max Gagnon behind the plate and their first baseman last yr, I can't remember his name but I think he signed wth UNC-G. I don't exactly look forward to Optimist Park again (I think that was the name of the field and I hope they have added some lights) but I understand that it is a Raleigh field, not a Sanderson field.

I hope fans of both sides remain respectful, have safe trips to and from the games, the players play to the best of their abilities and stay injury free and of course, I wouldn't be much of a Rose dad if I didn't hope Rose wins

PirateFan... looking forward to seeing you tonight...

Sanderson fans.. Abrahms BBQ has opened across the street for Guy Smith, taking place of the infamous Bojangles, that had fueled many a Rose baseball team and Babe Ruth player... Ask 26 about the BBQ sandwiches from Abrahms... not bad at all and the fried chicken has a subtle sweetness to it that's dang good...

Oh, and there is a baseball game at 7. BP at 5. Look forward to a fun night! It's Mayberry vs The Capitol City! I even heard Thelma Lou was going to get her a new dress to wear to the game tonight! WooHoo!

I am happy to report that you will not recognize Sanderson Field at Optimist Park as we had to apologize last year - we do not own the field and we are at the mercy of the City of Raleigh. Since last season we have all new BRIGHT lights where you can see the ball AND we have added infield dirt to the infield. Our program is taking baby steps to become a player in the the NC high school baseball field -- I think we have done well the last three.

Our first baseman last year was Mark Peterson who played at UNCG this past year. Our other 1B is Charles Wolfe & he has signed with Wingate.

The Spartan family has a lot of respect for the Rose progarm and we also look forward to a good series. As a die hard Pirate fan I always look forward to coming down East but this time of year I have to wear my Sanderson RED - not my usual purple!

Be wary if Big D offers to buy... he only does that to fatten the calf for the slaughter!! LOL

Seriously, Great food!! I would recommend highly!! IMHO, the BBQ I ate was as good as any I have had at Parker's. BTW, I am a coniesseur of fine BBQ, eastern and piedmont...

Good luck to both Sanderson and Rose. Having been around Gagnon, Wolfe and Wigmore from their days with the Copperheads and having known RV for a long time, I know this series will be a lot of fun!!

That is great about the new lights. My office was full of Rose people the week after our series complaining of eye strain because of Optimist Park lighting...lol!

Wolfe will like Wingate coach Allen Osborne. He use to be a patient of mine when he lived in Greenville. He is a super guy and he knows baseball.
