Definitely congrats to Sanderson and their fans. They played hard, got good defense the whole series and their #3 pitcher came through today with a well pitched game. They look like a great bunch of kids who enjoy playing together and are peaking at the right time. Maybe tomorrow if I can find the time I can post the game 3 highlights (or lowlights for us Rose fans). Like I told Max Gagnon's dad, if Rose had to lose I am glad it was to Sanderson who's fans and players seem to be a class act (unlike our experiences with the Laney and Hoggard herds).

    UNREAL!!!!!

I am pretty much speechless after this game with Rose.

Thanks DRNCVOL for the kind words. After last years Eastern Regional against Rose our kids really got a taste of what it could be like going this far. This year they took the next step. We are so proud of our players and coach for what the have achieved so far.

I can not say enough about Rose's program Parents and Fans. Awesome group!!!

When my son called me this morning to let me know he was going to get the start pitching today I about passed out. I was keeping the team stats today and I could not even hold the pencil still enough to write. Well I better go get me something to calm me down before I jump out of my skin.

Thanks all and come out to support us this coming weekend!!!

    Answer to Sanderson's pitching

JM15 good question and I had no clue but I do know this Class of 2009 players -- they play for each other. They all know their role and when that role changes, they just "get it done." Today Wigmore started and went five unbelievable innings against a solid Rose team at their house in another must win situation. There were timely hits, awesome defensive plays and a desire to compete with the best baseball program in the state, JH Rose Rampants.

    I will post more later.

Congrats to Rose on another winning season and congratulations to Sanderson for validating that they have become a baseball “program.”

Coach Todd Laughlin has matured as a high school head coach and he is pushing all the right buttons. The players would do anything for coach!

Go Spartans and I look forward to more baseball next week at the state 4A Championship.

    Go Spartans!

Congrats to a great group of kids!!

My last baseball visit to Greenville was not a memorable trip. My son grounded out to end the game, the series, the year and his HS career there last year. Problem was, I knew we were a great team and had more in us. We just ran into a buzz-saw of a team. Simply put, a great team gave a butt whopping to an awestruck group of young men. My son has moved to the next level but I am still a DIE HARD SPARTAN FAN and love to watch this group of kids my son grew up with play ball. This group of seniors is no longer awestruck and played with a confidence level they did not have last year. I am so happy for them.
This board is full reports on what the really talented players are doing. I will let Pirate Fan 18 give the stats for the game. Both of these teams have talented players going on to the next level. But, a couple of players for Sanderson, who never have played on a showcase team…. Hell, most of them never made a rec league all-star team… were the difference in this series. Travis Trumps (LF), Jon King (DH,3b), Robert Brunson (2b), John McFarling (P, 1b)and Sammy Beavans (RF) all made contributions that made the difference in this series. Trumps, was simply outstanding at the plate and in the field yesterday and today!! Two of his hits were rather ugly….. but, just like my putting stroke, I don’t care what you think of it as long as it goes in the hole.
Don’t get me wrong. The “studs” did perform and performed well. The pitching for SHS was OUTSTANDING. Kyle Wigmore (SS, P – High Point) threw more pitches in a game today than his entire freshman, sophomore and junior years combined. And he did it well, when it was needed the most. He will not pitch at the D1 level next year, but he performed like a pitching prospect today. Charles Wolfe(P, 1b - Wingate), Daniel Adams (3b,SS) and Kyle Wood (CF) all made contributions in this series. BUT…. If the young men on this team do not vote Max Gagnon (C – UNCP) their MVP this year, they are crazy. He was great on the mound last night and is great behind the plate EVERYDAY. Oh yeah, he hits a little bit too.
I know this is not the normal post with stats and specifics. And I don’t post very often. But I am just so proud of this group of young men…. I can’t help myself. To the parents, please have a shot for me tonight. We have called Mark and he is just as excited as us for your success.
WAY TO GO SPARTANS! YOU ARE NOT DONE YET!

I'd rather read these kind of posts everyday, then some sterile stat post. If you have ever noticed, I never posts stats. I enjoy reading about the players.

Thank you for a well said post.

There is no one else that can share your feeling better than another parent of a pitcher. Every pitch thrown means something......

Congratulations on the win............. and surviving high blood pressure

Rose loses a lot of pitching with this sr. class. Very impressive group. They look like they have some very good hitters coming back.....but may lack pitching to get this far in the playoffs again. But they seem to reload every year.
