    Lover Pitched Great

Ashton Lover pitched great. Pounded the strike zone with fastball, cutter and a change-up. The change-up made almost every batter swing so early and over the top of the ball that they were not even close to hitting it. Like Dawgswood says, if you have three pitches working the other team is in for a long night. That was really fun to watch.

Alex Bartolomeo hit the ball great. Really got the momentum coming our way from the first at bat of the game. This game was almost the mirror image of the game Friday night.

The temperature was actually hot for the game, which is a change. That will wear any pitcher out in the first part of the summer until the boys get used to the heat, and I think that was why Wood came in as Ashton had to be getting a little tired. Wood came in with the bases loaded and two out in the sixth and struck the batter out to end the sixth and the North Davidson rally.

Nick Forst came in for Wood, and stepped into a high pressure situation with a runner on base. What a spot to walk into at this point of the season !! Bottom of the seventh, do or die game, the other team getting a little momentum coming their way and trying to rally being down 6-2. Forst showed great poise and great mental toughness to close the game out. For me, this was one of those moments that make high school baseball so special - a kid that maybe was not expecting to play, stepping up and bowing his neck when his team really needed him to keep their playoff dreams alive.

North Davidson is going to be coming out like a mad dog Monday night. They are too good a team and too well coached to fold their tents - look out.
    Should be fun.

Article in the Paper this Morning

Here is what the article in the papaer said...wish I could be there.

"Bagwell said Wood's arm was fine and he planned to start on Monday night.
Meadows said he wondered if Wood's arm was still tender from pitching last Tuesday in a win over South Caldwell.
The coach said Jordan Ramsey will start on the mound for North on Monday."

    Wood's Arm

Word is he will be shut down but he's a gamer. We'll probably see Butler to start then who knows. Hope Logan is ok and able to play.....That would be another big blow to their championship run!

From a North Davidson fan: Win or lose, we hope Wood can go. No one wants this kid to have arm problems...now or in the future.

Butler almost worked his way out of a mini-jam. But ND scored on a WP with two outs.
