    Another good inning for butler. Only allows a two out walk.

    AK 5 10 0

    three upband thrree down for AK in their half of the 7th

    1 out in the bottom half. Butler is still in and lokimg as sharp as ever.

    2 on and 1 out for ND. Butler is out. Lover is in.

    ND leaves the based loaded inthe 7th. 5-3 is the final. Congrats to both teams on a well played game.

    Yes....and the Lakers can be good without Kobe Bryant.
    But, given the opportunity, I think all Laker fans would prefer to have Kobe in the lineup, don't ya think?

    AK big plays

    Congrats to AK, and to North Davidson on a great season. There were a lot of guys that stepped up today for Ardrey Kell, but two of the bigger plays were from Derek Ham and Cody Shelton. Ham got a two strike bunt down, and then made it safely to first. Shelton made a great pump fake to first throw to second to get a double play. That situation went from first and second no outs to a man on first two outs. Both plays were huge in a close game.

    Congrats again to North Davidson who fought, scrapped and clawed to the very end. Quality team that plays the game the right way.

    My thoughts:

    AK played small ball very well. Ran the bases well, bunted well. Defense was outstanding. The two strike bunt was awesome and the bunt play with Butler and Shelton was as good as it gets on any level. they got several key hits with two outs that kept innings alive and scored runs.


    But everyone knows that Bagwell will have them prepared to play well. AK would have their hands full if they were at full strength. They will need to play solid defense behind Lover and Butler...continue to do the little things. If they do that, I think they will feel good about their chances.

    I am heading to Raleigh friday for game one. It'll be the first championship series i have seen since i played for the 1988 title. I hope that Bags will get the ring he covets 21 years after i got mine.

    Dang---it's nice to see you get involved in HS baseball again. Except for Providence we have not had a team from Charlotte win since you last played. I bet some AK fans would be willing to pay for a hotel room since you're going. Bring them good luck

    Don't forget South in 1989.

    Hal is a good buddy of mine, so now that i am back in charlotte I can follow his club a lot better. I wasn't able to make last year's series but there's no way I am missing it this year. I will have my ring on this weekend...hoping it brings them a little good karma.
