I don't know how JC Howze from Marvin Ridge was left off the team of 18!

    Batting Average .449
    R B I 17
    Hits 31
    Stolen Bases 20

I don't know how the voting is done.

    by position?

Some all-conference teams are picked by position. In the case of 18 players, maybe they picked the best two at each position instead of just the 18 best-performing players. Maybe there were a couple of even stronger performers that just inched him out at his position. Tough break, anyway...looks like he had a good year.

    I remember....

Back in 1968, my brother was the local Babe Ruth League Batting champion and voted League MVP, but he did not make the All-Star team. He still has the individual trophies, and I still have a vivid memory of the frustration with the process that he and my dad felt at the time.

    it's

a beauty Contest. ... not really.... it is about conference only stats and many really good players miss out due to a lot of good players competing in the skilled positions.. IE, catcher, pitcher, SS.. not a slight just a fact.

Sometimes coaches don't want too many from one team on the list. Were there alot of his teammates selected?

When your head coach nominates 10 players from his own team to be voted on, an individual player can lose potential votes from his own teammates.

Some of it had to do with the fact that there were more than 18 players that deserved All-conference recognition.

While Howze is probably qualified, there isn't a kid that was selected that wasn't deserving.

I think Wideout meant to say a player can lose potential votes TO his own teammates. Teammates don't actually vote.

    yeah what he said..........

meaning too many players on the board from one team, some of the votes that can go to one player could end up going instead to one of his teammates.
