Yes, as I recall the 4-A state championships in 2005 came down to a 19 inning game that was completed by a hit to left by allison presnell. It can come down to one play and a 0-0 score, that's why we love the game! :)

    Quality Programs

Both great programs but Butler has been quality since the day the doors opened going to state's in the first year of existence. Central Cab., Hopewell, Independence, Laney, and several other 4A programs have won several titles or gone to Raleigh on a regular basis at times. However, Butler's Raleigh record is right there at top. In fact, I believe last trip AC made Butler beat them but am not a HS softball expert.
North Davidson and AC will be a great game and will come down to a mistake or speed, maybe both!

I was wondering when the Butler people were going to stand up. They did win the last couple of Championships! Without all that western NC rain who knows if they would be there this year too!

Should be an exciting matchup between two coaches who are very good friends. Both teams need to remember that there are two other teams in Raleigh, or should I say fans should remember. Because Lambros and S won't let their teams overlook anyone.

Gotta love HS sports. I don't think they had as strong team but did see where their conference did really well. Tough to win year after year.

Thanks for the support But the rain in no way played a part in the outcome of our game vs AC. We played well and AC played a bit better It was a great game and those AC fans are hard to beat, Great crowd and fan support, I just love how small town America supports their HS teams. We had a great time playing AC and want to thank the grounds crew for the time, sweat and money that was poured onto that field for four days in a row to be able to get the game in.

Hey Joesimtre, can you show me the post where Butler blamed the rain on the loss? I have not seen a compliant; no question the rain was a pain, but the team was at the field each time the gate was open ready to play. Butler played a good game, AC played better and won.

No post out there and no one to blame. AC won and that is that. Just mentioned it because Butler was up before the rain, I wasn't there, don't know what happened, don't even know about travel, heard AC was rallying and game had to end because of rain. All I know is Butler has won back to back championships and they aren't being mentioned as an elite program in the state. Not my horse to ride so oh well, I have my own problems to worry about.
AC is a great team and they are deserving of being in walnut creek. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if they won it all. They have all the pieces and one of the best coaches in the history of the state. I am terribly sorry if you felt offended. I was just offering a suggestion that another great program had been left off the list.
There is no arguing that AC is and has been amongst the "cream of the crop" in the state of NC. You shouldn't be so sensitive everytime someone doesn't mention you as the best. Sometimes the best have to be humble and let everyone else pat them on the back, smile and say thank you.
Once again I apologize if you were offended.

You said nothing wrong, did not blame any loss on rain and you are right Butler is an elite program with three state championships in a row! AC beat them and I am happy for them as well. ND and AC will be a great game and I have coached kids on both teams and know the coaches well. Man it will be a fun game to watch!:band:
