    West Sweeps Championships!

    1A: South Stanly over Topsail
    2A: McMichael over Patton
    3A: Lake Norman over Eastern Wayne
    4A: Ardrey Kell over Sanderson

    Congratulations to all 4 Champions!:trophy:

    Note: the 2A Championship was actually between 2 Western schools. McMichael High School is located in Mayodan, NC which is Northwest of Greensboro. (certainly not in eastern North Carolina)

    Yes, these boys from the west can play. How bout those young men from the West. Go WEST!!!!!!!!!

    Do you think...

    since the West won all the series the NCHSAA would actually attempt to have a venue for the finals IN THE WEST SOMETIME!!!!!! Its absolutely ridiculous that several East teams have little or no travel every year. Next year lets go West with half the games.

    I totally agree they should put it Charlotte or Asheville but they won't. They don't want to travel.

    It's held in the capital city every year. Don't see much problem with that. I do wish they would move all 4 championships to the USA Complex in Cary.

    USA Baseball Complex: Great Idea!

    If you think Five County stadium over near Zebulon is in the Capital City you need to readjust your GPS!

    Cary has excellent facilities. I think the State Championships could be rotated between all parts of the state. We have enough venues in the state of North Carolina to meet this demand. As far as Raleigh being a central location its not. Its close but its not Central for anyone that is in the West. If Raleigh was really the Center part of the state half of the Raleigh Metro area would be in the Western half. That dog don't hunt. It is not the Central part of the state, map the distance between Murphy and Raleigh and compare it to whatever is the furthest point in the East (Morehead City, Wilmington) and you will see my point. Now while I think it is great for these young athletes to experience some of the venues in the Raleigh area, with showcase ball a lot of these student athletes have already been to some of them. So in order to make it a true a State Championship open it up to all the state, Not just the Central part. Just my two cents.

    Raleigh to Murphy- 5 hrs 51 min
    Raleigh to Cape Hatteras- 5 hrs 41 min

    Hmmmmm, That is pretty close.

    USA baseball center is about 10 miles southwest of Raleigh. About dead center.

    The State is Blessed!

    As far as options to consider, the NCHSAA is obviously trying to hold the championships as centrally located as possible for the whole state. Raleigh & Zebulon probadly are not the exact central spots geographically speaking, but they are close. Somewhere between Raleigh & Greensboro would be close as well. The state is blessed with good baseball facilities to use. (If the NCHSAA could work it out) Durham Bulls Park, Chapel Hill, USA Baseball Complex, Raleigh, Mudcats Stadium, Greensboro, & several other college locations could be considered. I don't see a problem with all 4 classifications getting a different site.
