    stay with dominating pitcher?

Do you run Alex White back out there for the 10th and forget about pitch count? He looked strong in the 9th.

If Fox bunts Levi over in the 8th there might have been a 10th. What was Fox thinking.

When I saw Gore misplay the fly ball my thoughts immediately went to the play that cost the Heels the national tille a couple of years ago. Most will remember that play as a bad throw from Gore, but the real culprit was the bad footwork of the first baseman (who had been subbed in or moved there from another position). That throw was off line a little, but was easily catchable if the first baseman had not already committed to stretching out off the wrong leg.

So now Gore makes a costly bungle at an unfortunate time. Yes the sun is tough and once you have lost the ball in that situation it's nearly impossible to find it before it hits the ground, but others make that play when battling the sun. So, it's a tough break all the way around and I felt bad for Gore as the casual Heels baseball fan doesn't know of all of his good play and good hitting throughout the year and over his career.

That throw in '06 was made by Bryan Steed, not Gore, but you bring up a good point about the danger of position changes. Gore has been an infielder up until this year and it showed on that fly ball. An experienced outfielder knows how to block the sun with his glove and still catch the ball.
Alex White was way, way, way overused in last year's CWS and broke down at the end. I'm glad they didn't send him out for the 10th, but please, ABM.

Wow! you are right, it wasn't Gore. I would have bet the house it was Gore...just goes to show you how our memory (or lack of) can lead us astray! My bad....

But you are right...they took a player that had been catching and put him on first. It was quite apparent that he did not have the position fundamentals learned.:omg:

Steed gets the blame, but he didn't get much help from Fedex.

    LSU is looking good!

I believe Virginia can beat Arkansas Wednesday, but winning 2 games against LSU will be a tall order!
