Not that I agree with the above reasoning but Providence HS finished 2nd regular season in the SW4A. AK won the end of season tournament and was awarded the 2nd seed in the state playoffs for doing so but that doesn't change the regular season standings.

These are individual awards, not team awards. You may think A-Rod(or whoever) is the best player in MLB but that doesn't mean the Yankees will necessarily win the WS.

One can certainly make an argument for others for both these awards in this strong conference but there's a strong argument to be made for the ones chosen also. Congrats.

I hate to, but I will have to agree with you on that one. We have had around 7 coaches in the last 5 yrs at my DD's school. We did however have a young lady make the list.

 

Go ahead and name her. Give her some props. Who was it??

 

If a coach has to read TBR to know about All District nominations maybe it is time to get another coach.

 

The coach SHOULD know... but the AD should absolutely know! He or she should also be held accountable.

We had an AD two years ago that really "dropped the ball". He was asked by the softball coach (1st year coaching) what was needed for all district/all state nominations and didn't "get around to it" until after the deadline. This certainly cost some girls to get the recognition they deserved.

If your DD is at a school where this could happen, you need to be proactive... whether it is with the coach, the AD or even with the principal. As long as you don't just promote your DD and do promote all the deserving players on the team, someone should step up and do the right thing!

 

All-District Selection

How are you typically notified that you have made All-District? We found out my daughter made it because someone saw her name on this thread?
What if someone doesn't go on TBR......how would they have even known they were selected? Never saw anything in the local paper or heard from our coach....the girls work hard to get these honors but almost is anti-climatic when you have to have someone tell you about it before you even know yourself....

 

Certificates

Your DD will get a certificate from the NCHSAA. It will be sent to the high school and her coach or AD should get it to her.

Here's one for you...6 girls made all district off the high school team in 2008, 5 of the six play in 2009 and none are nominated. 4 of the 5 will play college ball and one of them was POY for the district last year as a junior. Two coaches and one of them is an AD...still no nominations for all district or all state??? Hmmmmmm?

I'll let you know who it was Stickwolf, haha, it was Breanna Jones. Some don't post as much detail when it's not their own, but not mad at that, I am still proud!!!! Breanna was named all conference, all district and is currently playing at the state games for Region 7.
