Sad but true! Maybe not a hooker murder but something to ruin his life. Hope not though.

I wish I could get 1% of his earnings though.

If my math is correct----finish high school, go to college. Graduate. get a job making $40,000-$50,000 per year if you are lucky.

Or, get $20,000,000 at 17 to play a game.

With a 3% raise every year taking the traditional route it would only take him slightly under 400 years to make that kind of money.

Seriously, if you have that opportunity you can buy a wing at a university later and get your degree.

hope he would rethink that a little. Missing the last two years of HS. If he does I would hope he would finish it some how though private means. Money is a plus guys but not everything.

    This BS needs to stop.

Good gamble for team wanting him. They get a prospect. They get potential. Its a business decision.

    Bad decision for him.

Laying out that much for a "kid" to decide IMO is out of bounds. Other sports are doing the same. So here comes baseball. Storm clouds are arising. This IMO is not good.

IMO very bad and very sad.

    When does it stop? 6U?

Personally I think it's a brilliant decision because his publicity value just doubled. Years ago Joe Nuxall pitched for the Reds at 15...and he turned out to be a good pro and super human being. Take the shot, Kid.

rules are different for a prodigy....

This situation is very unique. This player is not a typical 16-year old in any way. He is supersized and quite mature physically (look at the full whisker set he has). His achievements and performance profile are off the charts. Bottom line: He is a 23 year-old with a birth certificate that says otherwise. Remember how old LeBron James looked for his age...same thing here. These players are fully developed physically and they are ready to compete physically...the question is their mental and emotional preparedness. Us trying to make him "normal" by conforming to our standards is just selfish. A prodigy is an extremely rare speciman and their gifts are hard to comprehend.

I say let them flourish and watch them make their mark. Maybe Bryce Harper will be the Beethoven of baseball.....or just turn out to be Billy Joel.
