Good example karlrocket,,,,,,,, in fact you proved 2 of my points about how they'll always be bad umps, bad coaches and bad fans.

Because here's an umpire on the 3rd base line maybe 40 feet away from the play, who clearly BLEW this call down the left field line...

... yet here's a fan in North Carolina some 1500 miles away telling him about it...

    :N1Lol16:

Ok, I owe you a hotdog for that one,,, had to do it.

On a more serious note, to nc2aump,,, what league pays these Babe Ruth umps $55/game? (its not for me, its for someone else :bandana:)

Quiet Braves, at least I'd lean over to call balls/strikes... :nosmile2:

Tj, I've got it on tape in slow motion!

You're not gonna solve this problem! Bad Umps: There's just too many of them!
Now, something important that we need to address is this Erin Andrews situation.

    She's wearing too much clothing!
I'm thinking a petition, or even a strike! Whose with me?
Get your priorities straight people. Do we need to be worrying about bad umpires or Erin Andrews?
We need to show ESPN we mean business! Now vacate this thread & move to the Erin Andrews thread immediately. Our viewing future depends on it!

    This one takes the cake....!!

In my 20+ years of being around baseball I have never witnessed anything like I did tonight!!

This is a collegiate summer league. The count is 2 and 2. The next ball pitched is at the shoulders and the ump calls "ball". The opposing teams crowd starts to scream at the ump!! They had been screaming at him all night long. The ump succumbs to the screaming and calls time. Goes out to consult the field ump.

As he is walking back to the plate, he calls "Strike 3, batter out!".

The guy actually changed a called "ball" to a "strike"!! Needless to say, it took about 30 seconds for our coach to get ejected.

I challenge anyone to top this one!!!

Rec League (gee wonder why?). Batter in front of me goes as follows, strike 1, ball 1, strike 3!. As our coach wonders out to the umpire, this is his response on the call: Coach: "how can you call a kid out on 2 strikes?" Ump: "I didn't, it was 3" Coach:"No you never said strike 2!" Ump:"Yeah I did, I said, strike 1, ball 1, strike 3!" Coach:"Exactly, you called strike 1, ball 1, strike 3!, that's only two strikes!" Ump:"No I said strike 1, strike 2, strike 3!"

Quite contradiction of himself eh? Might I add he was sweating profusely and smelt like he might've had a bit too much to drink before the game. Not saying he was drunk.....but he definitely wasn't sober.

    Openings?

I'm an 18 year old kid looking to stay connected with baseball and make a little cash this summer and was wondering if anyone could help me figure out the best way to get involved in umpiring in the Rocky Mount/Wilson area? I've played four years of varsity high school ball and now that it's over I'm just looking for another way to stay in touch with the game. If you've got any info, please PM me. Thanks
