Good Lawd!!!!! Region 6 threw a 24 spot on the board yesterday?! Unbelievable.

This should be a great game today. I wonder if Hobbs Johnson will be pitching? If so, I feel with great confidence that Region 6 will not put up another 24 run game.

I thought Region 5 was the favorite going in. That team was loaded with studs, which speaks loudly of Region 3's talent after a 6-1 win

My overall observations about the State Games this year:

    - NC has not dropped in talent. There are some absolute studs participating this year. A couple really caught my attention...made you go WOW!

    - Curt Britt (Scotland) may be the head of a very talented class. The kid is phenomenal

    - Zach MacAneney (Western Alamance)- is the real deal. Roams CF like a goalie guarding a net, has a dynamic stick and the kid can pitch, too.

    - Aaron Attaway (Patton) slick fielding ss and a perfect leadoff hitter. Very aggressive player

    - Tyler Poole (Hickory) this kid has a high upside. He has the potential to be a pro prospect. Tall, athletic, strong and a fluid delivery. If he ever decides to concentrate solely on baseball, he has the potential to be really special.

    - Chase McDonald (Rose) His size quickly captures your attention, but his mobility is amazing. Chase actually had the chance to play 3rd yesterday. I don't know if he has ever played that position before, but he looked comfortable and displayed good footwork and soft hands. He's a unique baseball player that is fun to watch.

There were many more players, but I haven't seen all the teams. After today's games, we'll start a thread about everyone's observations of the players and the games.

If I could make two recommendations, I would place the Rocky Mount/Wilson area with Region 1. This Region only pulls from one 4A school. Plus, I would split the Charlotte area into it's own Region. With its 12+ 4A schools in it's vicinity, a lot of very talentted kids don't get to play in this event....and to keep the Region even with teams, you could do the same with the Raleigh area.

I heard Benton Moss was top bolt on day one at 88... I saw Dillon Maples throw 88-93 today for one inning with a knee buckling nasty curve at 76=78...

So the State Games Are Over!

It's back to Eastern North Carolina for Diesel, where the plumbers are all men, & charge $100.00 an hour plus materials.
