i hate posting second hand information, but my understanding is that 294 players were nominated and 294 selected. Pop's, what were the actual numbers???

would that not mean that every player who was all district was also selected all state? I believe everyone who is all district is nominated. If this is true then then it was not 294 = 294 selected all state because my other daughter was all district but not all state.. a good and correct decision IMO... btw.

    Too many?

Not sure how I feel about this. It certainly lets a lot of people feel good about being selected and there's nothing wrong with that. It also recognizes the fact that no one really could select the best 27 (just picked a # based on three teams) from each classification as no one sees all these kids play. If one wanted to be more selective it could be done the way many college conferences do their all-tournament teams and have the number of nominees based on the team's record or order of finish. There really should be some maximum number from individuals teams also as it seems improbable that any team's entire starting lineup should be all-state.

i agree with this, and in no way was i ever trying to take away from anyone being selected all-state. i made a phone call to the lady who used to take care of this for I-High when it was contracted through them by the state. she struggled to remember, but was sure that each division (1a-4a) received 40 selections for all-state and 15 selections for honorable mention. i cant remember back that far, but the number of selections for all state wasnt very large.

she did say that she had the same problem as we do now, the non interest of some of the coaches who just didnt submit any names.

    TARA HAJER- Alexander Central

I would like to take this time to congratulate my favorite
ALL STATE 2ND BASEMAN- TARA HAJER!

Tara is a first class young lady, Texas Tough and always with a smile! She has not cared about recognition over the years, as circumstances has forced her to move around and prove herself over and over again. From Texas to Cabarrus County to Alexander County and now, to Raleigh NC she takes everything in stride and never meets a stranger!
This has proven to work in our advantage seeing her list of previous & present coaches she's worked under. I have seen her take from each of these outstanding people and incorporate their lessons into her life. Tara has been very successful both in the competitive travel tournament world (2007 18 A NSA Championship) and at both high schools she's attended she's been Nationally Ranked- 3 out of 4 years of her high school career. What an honor! (Central Cabarrus and Alexander Central)

Winning the State Championship and being named ALL STATE TEAM is more than we could have ever hoped for ~ and WE ARE SO PROUD OF YOU TARA!!!
YOU DESERVE EVERY OUNCE OF WHAT A CHAMPION FEELS LIKE-
    YOU ARE ONE!
    WE ARE AC!
    WE ARE STATE CHAMPIONS -

    THANKS TO ALL COACHES:
    Monte Sherrill- the BEST
((Tara's ONLY HS Coach for the past 4 years))

    Yea

One of best base runners I have coached and also a quality bunter! Tough is correct, she ran head long into a big 200 lbs catcher at states two years ago helping us win tournament.
Best of luck in college! Thanks to the parents for several wonderful things they did for me during my bout with cancer!:crown::cucumber:
