Poor effort from S Rowan, congrats to Rowan for sole possession of first place!

Checked the Salisbury paper online this morning, and what do ya know, there's a picture of coach Lowman standing with Dirk "you better" Swing. At least he's consistent, but when you play and he's behind the plate, you know the outside corner is going to be really wide.

It's pretty unbelievable how wide his strike zone is, but yes he is consistent. Early on, Will Misenheimer (south) was placing it perfectly out there and the Rowan hitters were getting frustrated with the call. The Rowan starter, Billy Veal, had trouble getting his pitches down and didn't take advantage of that outside part of the batters box. But he was still effective and earned the W.

    Another W

    Rowan County 22
    Stanly County 5

    7 innings

    WP: Corbin Shive
    LP: Adrien Shepherd

Rowan exacts revenge from a recent loss at SC to remain in first place in Area III South play (10-3 and 13-4 overall). Trey Holmes crushed two homers to lead Post 342 in their onslaught. Rowan scored 14 runs in the 6th inning. Stanly had cut Rowan's lead in half at 8-4 and appeared to be trying to make another great comeback, but this time Rowan said no. Stanly had lots of errors, it must have been up around 10 or so. Rowan also committed a few errors as well but it didn't hurt them. Rowan is at Mooresville Thursday.
