Not to brag but need to. My 12year old(turn 12 in May) played with an 18u team this past weekend. To my shock she played 3rd very well and got on base more times than I thought she would be able to. The team only had 8 players for sat until she was asked. I was scared to let her play that far up. Then sat on the fourth game we played the QC Rockers and our pitcher was hurting and the last three batters my daughter pitched. The first girl hit to right, the second one she struck out and the third one hit and game was over. Then sunday the rest of the team was there and the catcher was over heated and they put my daughter in to catch. She did good there also. I think she only had two pass balls.

Big difference in 12U and 18U, not only in maturity but language !! I'm glad that your daughter did well, but would not advise let her playing 18U at 12U age...JMHO !!!

Do you happen to know the overall results of the 18u teams?

    Agreed

Completely agree with this statement. There are to many things said by older girls that a 12 year old girl just shouldn't be exposed to. Besides, would she not be better served by playing with girls closer to her own age that she would have more in common with?

Guru, That depends on the team. If you go with a respectable coach I could see where an outstanding older 12 U Player could play on an 18U team. Our girls are not on the field cussing and talking about about things inappropriately. Depends on the situation and I say move them up. Too many girls sitting in the lower levels trophy hunting. They would improve and becoming greater assests to their high school team if they did.

I Wouldn't Put My Stock In It !!

They are teenagers and she is not !! Don't put your stock in what you don't hear on the field ,and what they are saying outside your ears. I haven't met but a few 16-18 year olds that don't talk about older issues, and cussing wasn't one of them. The 12U body is not mature and the mental is not there,I don't care if she is 6'-1" and 180 lbs, I 've been doing this a long time, and a great coach can't make mother nature speed up !!

    Right on the money

To many time I see that girls are playing up when some of them really shouldn't. A 12U player really has no business playing ball with 17-19 year old. PantherFan is right on the money referencing the maturity level of a 12 year old. As a parent, if my dd was 12, I wouldn't allow that her to play that far up no matter how good she is or could be. No need in rushing your dd to get grown. Enjoy all of the teired levels of TB

    agree and disagree

Just to say this team prayed before each game the girls are great. The others girls on the other teams were great also. She normally plays 12u but just moved up to 14u 2weeks ago and the team she plays for only plays aau. The 14u and her old 12u team, I belive those kids have worse attitudes and sportsmanship then this age group. And most of the bad things that I heard were out of the parents of some teams not the young ladies. This is not age group I think she is ready for I agree but she learned alot about keeping her head up when she struck out and how they prasied her when she pitched and when she threw the ball from her knees to second when she was catching. She has been wanting to play 14u but no team would let her tryout because of her age. The 14u team she is on now knows her and her ability and asked her to come and finish out the season with them and then come to the tryouts afterwards. She likes that age but she said if she could play with this team again she would.
