Just wondering if anyone knows if there are any softball leagues in the Raleigh area for 1st, 2nd, 3rd grade girls. I know the parks and rec has something...I think the YMCA does. Wondering if there is a more competitive type of league or clinics to show the basics. Thanks!

Not much in Raleigh except REC ball. You're not the only one who has complained about how bad it is, and you will not be the last. You might try GAYSL in Garner. If the Capital Area Soccer League (CASL) ever decides to expand into softball for girls who do not or can not do travel ball, they'll probably have another 9500 girls playing sports......:kid:

Wilders Grove used to be a great place for the young kids, and it might still have interest. GASL is without a doubt a good first step. Buffaloe Rd. as a Parks and Recs. Raleigh gig is up and running.
Have you checked out any goings on in the Wake Forest area?
My kids are aged out for sure so I'm out of the loop.
I can say that both of my DDs played at Wilders Grove and it was an awesome family friendly experience.
My oldest also played at GASL and that rocked!
Pardon me for offering this opinion, but if I were in your shoes, I'd call every TB team in your area first.
Not to leave anyone out here folks because there are many, many very good folks in this area who will steer you the right way, but I'd pick up the phone and call Andy Stewart in Garner. NC Challengers

Wilder's Grove will have a fall ball league. My DD's play there and TB. We played Wendell, Zebulon, Knightdale, Rolesville. Getting ready to go to district and state tournaments.

They have a 8 and under, 10U, 12U, and 14U. For younger than 8U, they have Tball. I have one that plays 8U, and one that plays 12U. We only have 1 team of each, but our season was 10 games. When I used to play, there was 3-4 teams of each. If you need a contact person. PM me and I will give you her name and number. We are trying to grow the program, and maybe start a travel team.

My DD played there during the Bill Bickel/Ray Harrington era. I was hoping that they would have a HS age team.

I think by the 16 U age, I do not know if they lose interest, or have other things going on but we lose participation by then. I hope when these younger ones age up they will continue to play. MY DD played MS ball this year, and our WG team is way better than her MS team was. She was rather disappointed in MS ball.
