    CBC Diamond Rats

After a tough first game, the CBC Diamond Rats came back today and played very well.

Brad Zebedis went 2/3 with a bases loaded triple and Brent George went 2/3 with a double.

Starting pitcher Alex Baker gave up 1 run on 2 hits with 5 K's and no BB's in the first 6 innnings.

Things got exciting in the seventh, but the team came out with a good win.

Great Pitching Duel - Great game to watch
Gaither Bumgardner Pitched a complete game 3 hit shutout (9K's) for the Panthers
The Panthers had 2 hits (Zupzic and Basen), and executed a squeeze bunt (Pope) for the only run of the game.

Leave it to a pitcher to have the key at bat in the game

Great win against their toughest opponent in their pool

Cubs win today 8 - 0 against Florida Bombers (5 innings). Now at 2-1

Field they played on apparently was once and recently used for a county fair, bull stampede and a Polka Festival... apparantly rather lumpy...lol

    CBC vs Florida Bombers

I can see why these Florida Bombers have won this tournament 5 times in the last seven years....

I got to talking with one of their dads and he said they just flew in two guys from "the islands" for this tournament. (I had to ask him which islands they came from - stupid question - he was talking about the Virgin Islands...) He asked who we made mad at Perfect Game to get into their pool - LOL.

Diesel - Not sure who the Florida Bombers Bruins are, but you had a nice win. But look out if you get these guys - they ran five pitchers out there, the slowest on the gun could only reach 89. They love to pitch the FB under your hands and break your bat.

Brad Zebedis - Rock Hill South Point 2010 - hit a homerun shot to lead off the fifth inning on the first pitch from a new pitcher. The pitcher was so pissed off, he gassed the next three batters in order touching 94 on the gun...

Okay, this is where the bar is set and we know where we want to be a year from now.

I was told (but not verified) that the Bombers group enters multiple/numerous teams, then as the tourney progresses, they pick up "hot" players from eliminated or soon to be eliminated Bomber teams, adding those players to teams that are progressing in the tourney... so by the time the tourney ends, they have their best and "on fire" guys on one team... may explain multiple wins... (like I said, told this but not verified).

Flying in pitchers may explain a few wins too... regardless, am happy to see the NC teams are progressing and doing well with our home grown, "run what you brung" concept...lol

I'm pulling for the Bucs, but this team maybe the best down there.

    East Cobb Astros 1.000 4 0 0 0 36

Check out the runs scored- 36 and the runs against-0

Canes Senior is in a difficult position so far. They are tied for 1st in their pool, but are behind by 1 run when comparing RS vs RA. Are they taking the top 2 teams or just one from each pool with a wild card team?

That's been a long history for many National teams Deez. Some of their own islands to fly them up from, but to me that's part of the fun! Playing against some of the best in the country...and islands, too.

...and you're right. That's what makes it so impressive when our NC teams have done so well...2nd and 3rd place finishes against these National teams is an amazing feat
