    Thanks for the Update....

.... unfortunately, I will be in Myrtle Beach, SC the remainder of the week. Good luck to you guys. I am thinking the Championship game(s) will be classics. There were really 3 teams that had a legitimate chance of wining the tournament - Lumber River, Coastal Plain, and Triangle. There will be a lot of talent on display Tuesday night. Anyone within driving distance ought to head on over to Tarboro Municipal Stadium and watch some young men play baseball - young men about whom we will be hearing for years to come.

By the way, that 2-run homerun Tyler Hardee hit to put you guys up 4 - 3 was a thing of beauty. He hit an ankle high (or low depending on one's perspective) breaking ball out of the park. Impressive! Equally impressive was the play from leftfield to nail the tying run at the plate. All coaches teach hitting the cut-off man and your leftfielder did it to perfection. He threw a chest high ball to Chase - who caught it in motion just like it is taught - and Chase made an excellent throw to the plate. Impressive! Fundamentally sound baseball teams always give themselves a chance to win.

    RE: Diesel1

I thought he was 82 - 85. Looked as though he settled in comfortably around 83.

Chase McDonald hit a grand slam with 2 outs in the 4th to break a 2-2 tie and put Coastal Plains in the drivers seat. For good measure, the young man threw 5 1/3 innings on the mound to pick up the win.

    Chase McDonald

Congrats to Coastal Plain on the Championship and to Triangle as well. Both teams played hard throughout and neither gave up. Chase's grand slam proved to be the difference (I saw that one coming).

Chase pitched well (89 in the 1st inning but settled in around 83 consistently). The big fella is going to be a good one at ECU and beyond.
